JOB SUMMARY

Design is not just a job, it is a Lifestyle. We curate the design of the Lifestyle Brands by combining storytelling with the essence of our Brands. Candidates should be able to combine a creative mindset with strategic thinking and can engage with owners/project managers, multiple disciplines, and internal stakeholders. We assist in developing design and ensuring our hotels stay true to the essence of Lifestyle Full Service – Westin, Le Meridien, Renaissance, Autograph and Tribute.

At the project level, a successful Designer provides design guidance via informal and formal reviews thru the lens of the brand, and ensures that design standards are adhered to both programmatically and for quality. Additionally, candidates will monitor projects during construction and ensure hotels open to meet guest expectations. Candidates will work on both franchised and managed deals with internal and external stakeholders fostering relationships that permit great solutions. Work occurs in an atmosphere of collaboration where the expectation is to add value to create great product. This is a unique opportunity to position yourself directly in the creation of the Lifestyle Brands.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Provide content leadership on Lifestyle projects, which include managed, franchised and company-owned hotels, to ensure quality control, brand compliance, operational acceptability, and adherence.

  • Provide conceptual design studies and sketch plans and criteria/facilities programs for projects as required.

  • Make presentations to various levels in the organization including senior executive leadership and owners to gain their approval of the recommendations.

  • Supervise, direct, motivate and train assigned staff and outside consultants as necessary.

  • Seek methods to improve processes.

  • Provide information, interpretation, and guidance to outside owners as well as internal design and construction staff for adapting Brand standards to specific projects.

  • Assist in negotiation and implementation of design changes after project approval for all projects and track changes to projects in database.

  • Research, identify, negotiate and contract outsource professional consultants as well as temporary consultants on a project basis.

  • Train employees and outside consultants.

  • Coordinate and review outside consultant their proposals, contracts, and invoicing.

  • Support internal stakeholders, owners, architects, and other consultants to maintain quality, budget, and schedule.

  • Manage all projects through Oasis platform, providing timely accurate updates to support the business needs.

  • Report status of projects to supervisor on a regular basis.

  • Contribute and assist in maintenance and improvement of brand standards.

  • Represent department both externally and internally.

  • Assist in negotiation and implementation of design and design changes after project approval for all projects.

Education/Experience:

  • 4-year undergraduate degree in Architecture or related design discipline preferred.

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in architecture at a design firm for large commercial or hospitality projects.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Architectural license preferred.

California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $83,550.00 to $178,603.00 annually.

Colorado Applicants Only : The salary range for this position is $83,550.00 to $162,366.00 annually.

Hawaii Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $101,096.00 to $178,603.00 annually.

New York Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $83,550.00 to $178,603.00 annually.

Washington Applicants Only : The salary range for this position is $83,550.00 to $178,603.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
