This position will be filled as a Telecom Apprentice, Telecom Technician or Telecom Technician Sr based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Successful completion of the EEI TECH test is required to be considered for this position.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Responsible for planning or laying out work details under general supervision. Must be able to performroutine or difficult tasks involved in the installation, provisioning, and technical support of all types of telecommunications equipment.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist/perform telecom circuit provisioning and issue resolution; system hardware installation, system moves and changes, and system outage resolution.

  • Execute orders effectively and efficiently.

  • Be proficient in the use of test equipment, such as Volt-Ohmmeters, RF Power Meters, Frequency Counters, Communications Service Monitors, Optical Power Meters, Transmission Impairment Measurement Test Sets, T-1 Test Sets, DS-3 Test Sets, and Optical Time Domain Reflectometers.

  • Plan, layout, and perform work assigned in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Direct work of crew members, instruct and train other employees.

  • Available for after-hours call-out to address issues and problems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Experience and Education:

Telecom Apprentice:

Must have one of the following qualifications:

  • 4+ plus years of experience in at leastoneof the following areas: voice system support, two-way radio system support, fiber optic transmission system support, microwave radio system support, or AC and DC power plant support, OR

  • 2-year Electronics Technology Degree, OR

  • Other related degree.

Telecom Tech:

Must have worked for at least one year as a qualified Communications Serviceman 3rd Class, or have had equivalent experience in related work, having all qualifications of the previous classification.

Must have one of the following qualifications:

  • 4+ plus years of experience in at leasttwoof the following areas: voice system support, two-way radio system support, fiber optic transmission system support, microwave radio system support, or AC and DC power plant support, OR

  • 2-year Electronics Technology Degree, OR

  • Other related degree.

Telecom Tech Sr :

Must have worked for at least two years as qualified Communications Serviceman 2nd Class, or have had equivalent experience in related work, having all qualifications of the Communications Serviceman 2nd Class.

Must have one of the following qualifications:

  • 4+ plus years of experience in at leastthreeof the following areas: voice system support, two-way radio system support, fiber optic transmission system support, microwave radio system support, or AC and DC power plant support, OR

  • 2-year Electronics Technology Degree, OR

  • Other related degree.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Must have full use of mental and physical faculties.

  • Have strength and endurance adequate for arduous labor as circumstances may require.

Personal Qualifications:

  • Be willing to work under unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.

  • Possess keen faculties of observation.

  • Be able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of both superiors and subordinates.

  • Have a temperament suited to jobs where manual dexterity, precision, and patience are particularly essential.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Have a thorough knowledge of electronic circuitry and electronics theory.

  • Must comply with the Company safety policy and all regulatory body rules and regulations.

  • Must supply personal tools used in work.

  • Have basic, thorough, or complete (based on job level) working knowledge of electronic circuitry and electronics theory.

  • Be able to read and understand technical documentation and schematics.

Any Certificates, Licenses, etc.:

  • Be able to maintain a valid Driver's License, TWIC card or other applicable required license, background check, or ID.

  • Successful completion of the EEI TECH test.

EEI Testing:

One way that Entergy has found to identify and assess the abilities and skills needed for certain jobs is through pre-employment testing.
