We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to unearth new insights that the business can action against to drive value. This role involves partnering with various functions to develop decision models using statistical techniques that will help drive business goals. This position is a hybrid role and can be located in the Battle Creek, MI or Chicago/Naperville, Illinois areas.

On the Kellanova North America (KNA) IT Data and Analytics team, we focus on agility, growth, and innovation. We aim to enhance decision-making capabilities, maximizing growth potential for our trusted food brands.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

• Data Modeling – Our objective is to enhance decision-making capabilities in the commercial and supply chain domains. This involves elevating existing modeling methods, contributing to the development of optimized decision models that account for uncertainty using probabilistic or other techniques. Additionally, you’ll lead high-value, large-scale data science projects and advance our statistical and machine learning tools.

• Stakeholder Engagement - Work with business subject matter experts to see the world through their eyes. Pilot proof of concept models using limited to very large and unstructured data sets is often required. The Senior Data Scientist needs to be comfortable in exposing the rationale in easy-to-understand terms for the business.

• Data Analytics – In this role, you’ll conduct cross-disciplinary research and offer recommendations for big data infrastructure withing the broader IT function. Additionally, you’ll provide thought leadership across the business domain, proposing and simplifying complex paradigms. Not all the data will be readily available; understanding existing internal resources and leveraging new data collection processes, including external sources will be essential.

• Training and Mentoring – This position is responsible for end-user training of the models or tools you develop, along with your coupling your domain and modelling expertise. Provide guidance, training and problem-solving assistance to other team members whilst mentoring less-experienced individuals.

  We’re Looking for Someone With

• M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or another related field. Or specialized training/certification or equivalent work experience

• Significant experience in applying data science within a consumer centric organization or other relevant experience

• Programming experience in either Python/ R or other similar platforms

• Experience in data analysis, data manipulation, data mining, algorithm development, or machine learning/artificial intelligence

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to different audiences across the team, business partners, external stakeholders, etc.
