The Supply Chain Network Planning Optimization Specialist is responsible for preparing data sets and modeling supply chain optimization projects (e.g., upstream DC, cross dock, mixing center, routing optimization, warehouse location optimization, operations optimization, inventory optimization, etc.). Motivated, self-starting, individual contributor, with the ability to identify business gaps and run those scenarios through various optimization software suites. Ability to present discoveries to multiple levels of leadership and stakeholders on optimization outputs. Serves as subject matter modeling expert for the Network Planning organization for model set-up parameters, distribution, and fleet considerations for profitable and operationally successful route design. Participates in operational reviews to determine route opportunities by market and region and any current route adjustments needed. Helps to create forecasts for Long Term Forecasting, Short Term Forecasting, and Commercial Partnerships Modeling and Planning.

This position is remote which means the work can be completed from anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work cross functionally to optimize logistics (Cross Dock Optimization, Mixing Center Analysis, Pricing Modeling Analysis, Vendor Analysis, New Customer Onboarding Analysis, Routing Re-Optimization, Geographical Mapping Optimization, DC Automation Impact Analysis, etc.).

  • Leverage network modeling capabilities to demonstrate the impact of other US Foods initiatives on efficiency, cost, capacity, and throughput.

  • Collaboration and planning with Business Intelligence, IT departments, and other internal departments/stakeholders.

  • Partner with National Sales, Local Sales, Logistics, Routing, Replenishment and Merchandising partners to understand key model data sets and inputs.

  • Review current business landscape to better optimize US Foods network.

  • Identify business gaps and propose scenarios to leadership teams via the utilization of network optimization tools.

  • Assist with the development and reporting of Network planning KPIs to improve Key supply chain performance metrics via the utilization of network optimization tools.

  • Identify any issues that may impact modeled loop output quality before validation and operational reviews occur with Logistics and Routing Optimization teams.

  • Incorporate market and industry research, best practices benchmarking and market-specific constraints into network planning improvement strategies.

  • Internal: Network Planning, M&A, Route Optimization, Transportation & Logistics, Delivery Excellence, Sales, Merchandising, Continuous Improvement, Market/Region Leaders and Staff, Finance, Real Estate, and Integrations.

  • External : None.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Remote : This role is fully remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a home-based environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years’ experience using data to plan or optimize warehousing, manufacturing, supply chain, or business process flow.

  • Experience in statistical or computer aided system modeling and large data sets in a business context.

  • Demonstrated experience and success at participating in cross functional programs and proven ability to influence and lead.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead analysis in the face of ambiguity.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across a multitude of platforms with remote team members, as well as stakeholders at multiple levels within the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong bias for action; ability to work on multiple competing priorities and create a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Up to 10% travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in network planning.

  • Experience directly managing projects.

  • Experience reviewing site layouts and facility drawings.

  • Experience with SQL, Python, and Tableau.

  • Experience with Llamasoft, Gurobi, or similar modeling and optimization software packages.

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies, a firm understanding of Lean principles, process flow, minimal constraint design principles.

  • Experience in the food distribution industry.

  • Experience working with union employees.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, Supply Chain or related fields and experience in supply chain analytics.

  • Preferred: Advanced Degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, Supply Chain, or related fields.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $75,600 - $122,700.

This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus.
