POSITION TITLE : Technician, Layout

REPORTS TO: Quality Dept Leader

LOCATION: M139

DEPARTMENT/UNIT: Quality

BASIC FUNCTION: Executes dimensional analysis on product designated for First Article Inspection both internal Gast Mfg. and/or externally supplied material. Performs Inspection on purchased parts using all the required equipment in Receiving Inspection. Communicates with internal and external customers on inspection results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION FOCUS:

Performs dimensional analysis on manufactured product from various product groups and external suppliers for parts/items in regards to dimensional inspection using the CMM and other inspection tools. Performs Inspections on Purchased Parts.

Writes, revises and distributes internal paperwork and documentation concerning the results of said analysis, for rejected internal and external supplier parts (Sample Inspection Reports and Non-conformance reports). Loads all required information electronically in Quality Database.

Packages and returns said product, to the supplier, through shipping department.

Investigates use of appropriate standards and methods as required. Analyzes and works with appropriate engineer to resolve dimensional discrepancies on part prints.

Participates in design review of prints when required.

Assists engineering in trouble shoot production issues by measuring product upon request.

Assists with Engineering and Procurement in trouble shooting issues with supplied parts.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS :

Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement. ability to work well in a team environment that promotes: thinking independently and showing initiative in anticipating and preventing problems. additional requirements include: Mechanical aptitude using mechanical/physical and visual acuity, ability to do long-term repetitive work, with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills. Must be self-motivated and self-directed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:

Certified quality technician certification

High school diploma.

Recognized training In Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

Minimum 2 years’ experience operating a CMM

Demonstrated ability to operate personal computer and other various types of office equipment. Ability to multitask.

At least five years related experience with blueprints, layout technique, first article inspection and supplier relations.

Pay: $28.24 - $29.95 per hour
