IDEX Senior Supplier Quality Engineer in Benton Harbor, Michigan

Scope of Role: This role is intended to improve the Quality of our Supply base. This position will work directly with our Suppliers to improve the Quality of incoming parts. This position will work directly with internal Gast Processes to help improve the handling of Layout Inspection and Receiving Inspection to improve the communication between Gast and Suppliers with the long term goal of improving the Quality of our Supply base.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Responsible for the Supplier Quality Process.
Implementing and Improving Supplier Quality Metrics
Works directly with Commodity managers on improving Supplier Quality performance and provides technical support
Responsible for Company Wide Corrective Action Process (CAR)
Monitors system to prevent overdue actions
Works with Suppliers on Corrective Actions and Verifications
Responsible for the Supplier Quality Approval Process
Part Quality
Process Capability
Responsible for Organizing and Conducting Supplier Audits
Responsible for the Material Review Board process
Responsible for Implementing and maintaining Metrics for Receiving Inspection and Layout inspection
Work directly with suppliers to resolve Non-Conformances
Develop and improve Quality related Processes related to Supplier Quality
Verify and approve Supplier Changes
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
Sustainable performance improvements in Supplier Quality
Non-conformance reduction
Corrective Action Closure Time
Receiving Inspection reduction
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
ASQ-Certified Quality Engineers (CQE-ASQ) certification preferred
Minimum of 6 years of demonstrated work experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on customer service, mix model machining, and assembly is preferred.
At least three (3) years demonstrated experience in Supplier Quality and/or Supplier Development in a manufacturing environment
Trained in design for Six Sigma concepts preferred.
Working knowledge of GD&T methodology.
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Demonstrates experience and knowledge in the manufacturing and/or industrial industry.
Self-starter maintains high ethical standards.
Demonstrates ability to lead and work well in a cross-functional team environment.
Possess strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
Exhibits commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Strong ability to utilize statistical methods and implement new designs/processes to reduce variation.
Knowledge of lean concepts (5s, Kaizen, Kanban)
Must possess professional maturity and solid business judgment.
Working knowledge of TPS philosophies, utilizing kaizen.
Must be self-motivated, show initiative, anticipate and prevent issues by executing advanced problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well with suppliers and internal team members.
Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints to meet strict deadlines.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask as needed.
Ability to operate computers and proficient in MSOffice applications.
Ability to read and write in English.
Demonstrates proficiency in oral and written communications.
