Position is responsible for providing category management support for Walmart on the Adult Nutriton and Diabetes Management categories. Responsibilities include providing advanced analytics, shopper insights and category recommendations to internal and external customers.

Candidates should have previous or current knowledge of the retail environment, how best in class retailers go to market, how to execute merchandising and assortment recommendations. Candidates will have customer facing exposure and ability to influence at multiple retail levels.

The Opportunity

This position will report to the Sr. Team Lead, Category Management.

What You’ll Work On

Analytical Expertise

• Perform comprehensive category reviews, using retailer-preferred metrics and industry analysis.

• Maintain and improve category reporting along with share reporting that is provided to the buyer with an executive summary weekly.

• Provide Category Manger and Team Lead with Omni category recommendations based on analytical insights.

• Maintain proficiency in the use of Abbott computer systems, space management software (JDA), Nielsen Workstation, account-specific data sources, Power BI, Microsoft programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).

Best in Class Category Management

• Ability to identify key business opportunities for the category at a macro and micro level.

• Provide Omni category management expertise to assist in achieving customer-specific goals.

• Deliver strategic and tactical initiatives aligned with buyer and or manager direction.

• Identify and actively pursue all category opportunities at the retailer.

• Develop, review and support programs that will increase category growth.

• Work seamlessly with onsite and offsite teammates to deliver shopper insights understanding.

• Lead training for new analytical tools and resources.

Retailer Support

• Penetrate retailer at various levels to build relationships and influence decision making.

• Build Abbott equity and influence retailer as a category knowledge resource.

• Coordinate activities to develop, present and implement category management initiatives.

• Provide relevant category and shopper insights to drive assortment, distribution, category placement and aisle recommendations.

Qualified candidate must display the ability to work within a team environment, organize and complete task assigned. Be a relationship builder with our customer. Prior sales and/or category management experience with a background in consumer-packaged goods preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Strong Analytical and/or Sales experience within Retail Sales and/or the Consumer Packaged Goods industry

• Manage and lead category management insights at the customer level through remote communication with manager and team

• Experience with planogram tools (Space Planning, Apollo) and syndicated data (Nielsen tools)

• Advanced to expert level technical skills (Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Power Point, and Access)

• Ability to use multiple information sources to identify key opportunities to drive both supplier and retailer performance

• Strong mathematical aptitude

• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills

• Ability to take initiative/ownership of projects and see through to completion

• Strong presentation skills

• Creativity

• Bachelor's Degree required
