Business Intelligence Advisor

What does a great Business Intelligence Advisor do?

In this role, the Business Intelligence Advisor will be responsible for leading the collection and analysis of a wide range of information and data from various on-premises and cloud database sources and systems, designing, and developing central data warehouse using standard ETL procedures, and building data models and architecture within SQL using complex logics and queries as well as front end reporting using Power BI reports and dashboard using data from these sources. The Associate will be expected to design and maintain highly complex data model, insightfully and accurately evaluate the data, and communicate the data and actionable insights via reports and dashboards. Database development often consists of establishing connections between servers, designing schema and tables, stored procedures, views, and functions.

In this position, we are looking for someone with strong data warehousing and ETL expertise and Business Intelligence/ Reporting experience and a background in design, development and implementation of MS SQL database. This person will work in a collaborative environment communicating and engaging with multiple teams on a regular basis to collect and analyze data to develop database and reporting to further provide actionable insights on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.

As a Business Intelligence Advisor you can look forward to:

  • Design, develop and implement high-quality and high-performance data base solutions and data warehouses in Microsoft SQL stack across on-premises and cloud environments

  • Leading and managing data analytics and reporting project deliverables and underlying On-Prem / Cloud infrastructure

  • Develop, implement, and optimize stored procedures, scripts, and functions using ETL, SSIS and T-SQL for data ingestion, migration, and processing

  • Identifying prioritization and assigning tasks to the team Gathering requirements and creating business requirement documentation

  • Build dynamic and interactive management and executive reporting and dashboards in industry leading business intelligence tools

  • Work closely with business partners and analysts to understand the data requirements and to analyze and design the necessary data flow and database architecture

  • Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements

  • Prepare user documentation including Technical Design Document, Implementation Plan, unit test cases and other documentation as required.

  • Deriving actionable insights from management and executive reporting and metrics, and delivering business recommendations

  • Review and interpret ongoing business report requirements by communicating with multiple business teams in a collaborative environment

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Education – Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Computer science / Engineering / Statistics / Economics / Mathematics or related disciplines

  • Minimum 8 years hands-on experience on Microsoft SQL and Reporting stack: SQL server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, T-SQL, DAX, and underlying functions

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing, development and implementing reports and dashboards using industry leading BI tools e.g. Power BI

  • End to end experience in gathering specifications for design, planning, coding, testing, and deploying of data warehousing and reporting project

  • Strong expertise in ingesting and migrating data from multiple on-premises and cloud sources

  • Good exposure and hands on experience with SQL databases creating schemas, physical tables, and relationships, and ability to apply dimensional modeling, and OLAP approaches to solutions.

  • Experienced in collecting and processing data and conducting analysis, ideally for management and decision-making processes.

  • Strong data preparation and querying skills using SQL, and performance optimization of SQL, ETL, OLAP and Reporting layers

  • Experience in regression and unit testing solutions which encompasses code functionality, data constraint requirements and dimensional modeling logic for component calculations.

  • Experienced working with SSAS (Tabular Model), M query, power query, power pivot, Microsoft Excel

  • Skilled in ingesting and processing data using direct query, import and hybrid modeling features, and applying DAX logics and functions to create calculated measures and columns

  • Implementing RLS security and other methods to restrict reports and metrics to limited audience, including creating the roles and object security as per data access requirements from business.

  • Experience working with gateway, scheduler, App workspace on Power BI Service

  • Automation of analysis cube activities using AMO/TOM libraries

  • Ability to analyze and identify source data, grain, dimensions, facts, relationships

  • Experienced in client communications, understanding objective and scope

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Financial or Banking industry experience

  • Experience of Azure or Snowflake environment

  • Experience working in a global collaborative team environment

Travel: 10%
