What does a successful Director of Operations do at Fiserv?

Data Commerce Solutions is a new business unit setup to unlock the value of Fiserv’s differentiated data, build credit, marketing, and fraud products to serve our clients and customers better.

As a Director of Operations, you have a background in site reliability engineering (SRE), operations management, and technical leadership. You will be responsible for overseeing the reliability, scalability, and performance of our company's infrastructure and systems, as well as managing a team of SRE engineers and operations staff.

What you will do:

• Develop and execute the overall SRE and operations strategy in alignment with the company's objectives.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and efficient service delivery.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance. Manage and mentor a team of SRE engineers and operations staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

• Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best practices within the team. Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback.

• Define and implement SRE best practices and lead efforts to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance through automation, tooling, and process improvements.

• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the reliability and availability of our systems.

• Monitor system health, performance, and capacity, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.

• Lead incident response efforts and conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.

What you will need to have:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

• 11+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, operations management, or a similar role.

• Expertise in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, networking, and software development and automation pipelines.

• Experience with industry-standard tools and technologies for monitoring, logging, and incident management.

• Proficient leader with experience effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Problem-solving and decision-making experience, with a focus on continuous improvement.

• Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

What would be great to have:

• Master's degree.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
