Job Summary

Marriott International, Inc. one of the world's largest hotel company based in Bethesda, Maryland, operates and franchises hotels and licenses vacation ownership resorts and branded residential properties. Marriott’s Global Privacy Office, part of the broader Global Compliance team, and the Law Department service the Company's lodging and hospitality business.

The Director, Privacy Impact Assessment is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Marriott’s growing Global Privacy program while promoting compliance with applicable privacy, data and information protection laws, in particular, developing, implementing, and continually improving Marriott’s Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Process. This position is responsible for establishing and delivering the processes related to PIAs and assisting with other aspects of Marriott’s Global Privacy program, including policies, trainings, communications, and will support new business ventures and pilot programs.

This position reports directly to the Vice President & Senior Counsel – Privacy & Data Security.

ExpectedContributions

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Establish and implement proceduresand processes related to Marriott’s PIA processes, which include partneringwith Marriott’s internal stakeholders, such as Global InformationSecurity, Information Architecture, Procurement, HR, and the appropriatebusiness functions and working with outside consultants and outsidecounsel;

  • Manage the day-to-day workflowof the PIA program, including supporting governance efforts, developingand implementing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), providing trainingsand communications, and help establish procedures for identifying andresponding to changes in the regulatory landscape;

  • Oversee and lead variousinitiatives and projects related to the PIA program ensuring the projectsare completed on-time and on-budget;

  • Assist with additional GlobalPrivacy initiatives as necessary, including the Company’s individual rightrequests, complaints and privacy incidents; support compliance effortsregarding the Company’s cross border transfer mechanisms, and supportingthe implementation and negotiation of Data Processing and TransferAgreements;

  • Develop, review, and delivercommunication and training programs to raise awareness about the company’sPrivacy Program across business functions;

  • Mange the proactiveidentification and evaluation of emerging regulatory risks;

  • Prepare reports of privacymetrics, investigations and trends for the Privacy Governance Board,Oversight Committee, and the Continent Privacy Committee meetings;

  • Provide privacy-related adviceand support for new business ventures, pilot programs and initiatives; and

  • Collaborate with Law Departmentcolleagues and internal stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in arelevant area of study from an accredited University;

  • Certified Information PrivacyProfessional (CIPP), Project Management (PMP) certification, or otherrelevant professional certification a plus;

  • Minimum of 8+ years’ experiencein Privacy required; legal, compliance and/or information securityexperience preferred; consulting experience a plus;

  • Strong understanding ofinternational privacy laws, regulations, compliance and best practices;

  • Good written, oral andpresentation skills;

  • Good analytical and projectmanagement skills;

  • Ability to manage andprioritize multiple projects and resources with a sense of urgency;

  • Creative problem-solvingskills;

  • Outstanding interpersonalskills to effectively build relations and interact with associates at alllevels within the organization;

  • High degree of initiative andgood judgment to effectively resolve issues;

  • Experience managing the change;

  • Ability to work and influence awide range of cross-functional teams and leaders within a matrixedorganization;

  • Good project management andcommunications skills; and

  • Proficiency with enterprisecontent management systems, collaboration tools, Microsoft Word, Excel,and PowerPoint applications.
