Marriott’s Global Privacy Office, part of the broader Global Compliance team, and the Law Department service the Company's lodging and hospitality business.
The Director, Global Privacy, is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Marriott’s growing Global Privacy program while promoting compliance with applicable privacy, data and information protection laws. The individual will support the Company’s Privacy Governance program, provide direction and guidance to the global Privacy Leads, develop and deliver trainings and communications, and execute privacy programs and key initiatives. The incumbent will also develop Privacy policies and assessments and advise and support new business ventures and pilot programs.
This position reports directly to the Vice President & Senior Counsel – Privacy & Data Security.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Manage the day-to-day workflowof the Global Privacy Office, including supporting governance efforts,trainings and communications, and help establish procedures foridentifying and responding to changes in the regulatory landscape;
Help establish procedures andprocesses to support the Global Privacy Office program and ensure thatvarious initiatives related to Global Privacy follow project plans, arecompleted on-time and on-budget;
Lead and manage variousprojects as needed for the Global Privacy Office;
Assist the Customer ExperienceData Privacy Team, Continent privacy representatives and other businessleads in supporting various privacy initiatives, including the Company’sindividual right requests, complaints and privacy incidents;
Support compliance effortsregarding the Company’s cross border transfer mechanisms, including theannual re-certification process, updating Global Privacy Statements anddeveloping Associate and Applicant Privacy Statements;
Develop, review and delivercommunication and training programs to raise awareness about the company’sPrivacy Program across business functions;
Lead efforts to create andpresent specialized training opportunities to Privacy Leads;
Responsible for the proactiveidentification and evaluation of emerging regulatory risks and developrecommendations;
Prepare reports of privacymetrics, investigations and trends for the Privacy Governance Board,Oversight Committee and the Continent Privacy Committee meetings;
Provide privacy-related adviceand support for new business ventures, pilot programs and initiatives;
Collaborate with both businesspartners and colleagues in the Law Department to support the Company’sPrivacy Programs; and
Partner with team members inthe Legal department to develop and maintain a library of privacyprovisions.
Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:
4-year bachelor's degree in arelevant area of study from an accredited University;
Certified Information PrivacyProfessional (CIPP) or other relevant professional certification a plus;
Minimum of 8+ years’ experiencein Privacy required; legal, compliance and/or information securityexperience preferred; consulting experience a plus;
Strong understanding ofinternational privacy laws, regulations, compliance and best practices;
Good written, oral andpresentation skills;
Good analytical and projectmanagement skills;
Ability to manage andprioritize multiple projects and resources with a sense of urgency;
Outstanding interpersonalskills to effectively build relations and interact with associates at alllevels within the organization;
High degree of initiative andgood judgment to effectively resolve issues;
Experience managing the change;
Ability to work and influence awide range of cross-functional teams and leaders within a matrixedorganization;
Good project management andcommunications skills; and
Proficiencywith enterprise content management systems, collaboration tools, MicrosoftWord, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
