The Director of Mainframe Services (TPF) will be accountable for leading the operating practice for infrastructure that supports the mainframe. This role will work directly with key stakeholders and customers such as peer organizations in Infrastructure Automation, Architecture, Build and other IT Delivery teams to support the Infrastructure roadmap and service offerings. The Director, Mainframe Services (TPF) will be accountable for the leadership of the Coverage, Change Control and Database resources in the zTPF space. This role will interact with teams of infrastructure engineers (compute, storage, capacity) to support the design and engineering specs supporting Marriott business applications. Once the engineering specs and standards are defined, this team will lead execute across the enterprise.
Undergraduate degree or equivalentexperience/certifications.
8-10 years in an IT operational role supporting missioncritical solutions or applications. Must have Mainframe experience.
5+ years leading an infrastructure organization thatincludes budget management
Required Technical Experience
In addition to leadership experience, the ideal candidate will posses at least 3-5 years demonstrated technical experience in some or all of the following areas:
Mainframe. TPF, zVM or related
Expertise in any of the following:
zTPF Coverage,Change Control and Database support
Operationalsupport of a zTPF system
Business support of a zTPF system
zTPF support inOperating systems such as zVM and zLinux
Experience in some or all of the following:
Engineering role supportingstorage, compute and virtualization.
Complex ITsystems, data center infrastructure and software
Security conceptsand systems hardening techniques to secure PCI and PII information
Developing end to end architecture that supports highservice availability
Experience in some or all of the following:
Enterprise-grade Datacenter Compute Hardware
Networking - TCP/IP, QoS, Core, Distribution and/orAccess Topology
Core enterprise applications and/or application developmenttools
Graduate Degree in a technical discipline
Service Provider management experience
Experience designing with application integrationtechnologies (Web Services, REST)
Supported infrastructure for hospitality business(PMS, Pricing, Loyalty)
Experience in developing and implementing strategic ITtechnologies and related processes, procedures, and decision support.
Experience with business requirementsgathering/analysis.
Experience in researching emerging technologies andtrends, standards, and products
Experience in developing technology roadmaps andstrategies
Provides leadership, oversight, governance andstrategic direction related to Infrastructure services to enable the deliveryof IT services.
Defines the Marriott infrastructure architecture andgovernance model
Provides technical leadership, oversight, standardizationand validation of the effectiveness for the Enterprise Infrastructureenvironment
Researches, designs, and implements high-performingsoftware components that are standards-based, highly available and secured,delivering the required business functionality.
Educates internal and external users of thetechnologies to continually improve the knowledge and skill-base of theorganization on how best to operate and support the infrastructure services.
Develops documents with a focus on how services willbe leveraged in the solution architecture.
Participates in the evaluation and selection of Infrastructurebased products.
Work closely with the EA team to facilitate alignmentof plans with what is being delivered.
Institutes governance based on best practices andensure proper alignment to projects and major initiatives
Leads the analysis of the current environment todetect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement.
Leads the analysis of technology industry and markettrends to determine the potential impact on the overall Infrastructurearchitecture.
Supports Solution and Domain Architecture by providingarchitecture direction in terms of technology, software and infrastructure forprojects in the delivery life cycle
Consults with architecture teams to identify when itis necessary to modify the technical architecture to accommodate infrastructureneeds.
Oversees the documentation of all architecture designand analysis work.
Defines, designs, implements and promotes standardconfiguration and change management, processes and practices.
Collaborates with Project Managers and business unitleaders for all projects involving enterprise data.
Acts as a leader and advocate of technologymanagement, including coaching, training, and career development to staff.
Liaises with vendors to select the products orservices that best meet company goals.
Develops and promotes technology managementmethodologies and standards.
Defines requirements for Marriott InfrastructureEngineering and Service Providers to
implement the appropriate tools, software,applications, and systems to support appropriate technology goals.

Defines requirements for Service Providers to

Managing Standard End-To-End Processes
Promote the organization’s awareness, understanding,and usage of enterprise standard end-to-end processes.
Support the development of behavioral change management,communications and training as needed to drive process and tool adoption,implementation and compliance.
Track status of key milestones in the adoption of new processes andtools..
Collaborate with key stakeholder groups to validatethe effectiveness of standard processes and continuously improves process quality.
Work with Marriott teams to ensure thatprocess-related activities address company needs.
Define corrective action for audit findings withstakeholders.
Work to resolve escalated issues.
