Lockheed Martin Safety Engineer Senior Staff in Bethesda, Maryland
Description: This Lockheed Martin (LM) position reports to the Environment, Safety, Health and Sustainability (ESHS) ESH Programs team.
The Senior Staff Safety Engineer will solve ESH challenges using advanced techniques and knowledge, analyze metrics and existing ESH conditions to develop and implement ESH programs to improve working conditions for Lockheed Martin employees. The position interfaces directly with ESHS staff members, other corporate functional staff including Legal, Global Supply Chain, and Facilities, and Business Area Environment, Safety and Health (ESH) leadership and professionals.
Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as the subject matter expert for critical risk programs and implementation of fundamental processes related to mitigation of critical risks
- Drive systematic approach to anticipate, identify, recognize, evaluate and control critical risks and then consider development of leading indicators related to critical risks and how that supports SIF/pSIF prevention
- Formulate leading and innovative ESH strategies for LM overall, advocates for nascent efforts to reduce our biggest workplace risk and partners with ESH and stakeholder leadership to drive meaningful improvement of Target Zero (TZ) performance.
- Support the implementation of LM’s ESH programs to ensure that LM business activities operate in a safe and healthful manner that also minimize the impact on natural resources
- Develop and support implementation of pilots and programs to reduce injuries, minimize risks and ensure compliance
- Lead injury and illness trend analysis including performance evaluation, benchmarking, trend profiles, goal performance and annual goal setting
- Lead safety and health targeted improvement programs including the Structured Improvement Activities (SIAs)
- Develop and implement innovative tools, methodologies and systems to promote the elimination, minimization, mitigation and management of hazards in the workplace
- Provide regulatory support and guidance for safety and health regulations as well as internal standards, guidance, technical information and toolkits
- Support 1LMX and OneLM culture initiatives
- Provide safety and health technical and programmatic consultancy and support for LM operations, manufacturing, product development, technology transfer, product launch teams and construction projects
- Support business area ESH staff in requested programs and activities.
- Implement common programs and processes across ESH function to achieve affordability, efficiency and compliance objectives.

This position requires up to 30% travel.

Basic Qualifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other recognized certification in Safety or Health field.
Demonstrated program/project management skills.
Strong communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
Minimum of 14 years of work experience in the ESH domain with an emphasis on expertise in critical risks.
Experience analyzing existing and emerging regulatory requirements, assessing impact and implications for operations.
Experience developing written programs, plans and elements (training or command media).

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $134,900 - $233,680. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $117,200 - $206,770. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
