Marriott, the world’s largest hotel company, is seeking someone like you to help enhance data science capabilities to drive customer engagement and value with the application of personalization marketing and Loyalty promotions. This role entails outstanding business to technical translation, structured yet creative thinking, cross-functional collaboration, hands-on model development and operationalization. This role is part of a highly visible team that is tasked with growth acceleration and reinventing customer experience for Marriot.

  • Developand evolve applications of advanced analytics and predictive modeling byincessantly bringing external best practices and trends into an existing teamof data-savvy analysts

  • Evangelizeadoption of advanced analytics and pervasive data-driven thinking in Marriottculture

  • Workeffectively with stakeholders to understand ambiguous business problems, assessdata needs, develop/maintain best suited models and help/strategize deployingthem in production

  • Providestechnical expertise and support to persons inside and outside of the department.

  • Demonstratesknowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes. Keeps up-to-date technically and applies newknowledge to job. Manages and implementswork and projects as assigned.


Education and Experience

  • Masterof Science from an accredited university in Computer Science, AppliedMathematics, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Operations Research,Engineering or other quantitative discipline

  • 5years’ experience as a quantitative Data Analyst/Data Scientist or a relatedrole with domain knowledge in customer and marketing. PhD with less years’ experience alsoconsidered. Proven track record ofdeveloping, scaling and implementing machine learning models in customer facingenvironments.

  • Strongprogramming skills: Python, R along with stellar visualization and persuasivestory telling

  • Leadthe development and evaluation of algorithms that support Marriott’s “CustomerDecision Engine” that drives personalization across all customer touch points

  • Preparesreport summaries/presentations to communicate findings from analysis to seniormanagement at Marriott corporate headquarters, regional offices, and individualhotels.

  • Presentsanalyses in a way that the information needs for stakeholders are appropriatelyprioritized, delivered timely and accurate.

Collaborate acrossCustomer Experience and Consumer Operations Discipline and Continent Teams.

  • Performcomplex analytics projects across broad set of stakeholders, clearly aligningon business and data needs, managing expectations, and delivering results in atimely manner.

  • Providebusiness-minded analytics and modeling support, both working well with data anddemonstrating strong business acumen

  • Partnerwith the broader Customer Experience Analytics team, including Digital &Distribution and Marketing, Loyalty, and Media Analytics, to support themission of the CX Analytics team

  • Providesguidance to Data Management and Reporting Teams on the creation anddistribution of reports and dashboards for field and corporate stakeholders.

  • Supportteams within BMSC and Continent organizations in their efforts to leveragesystems, technologies, and tools.

  • Collaboratesin setting overall department analytic standards and policies, representing theperspective of globally-applicable and customizable analytic approaches thatmeet the needs of the business.

Provide TechnicalSupport and Consultation

  • Marshalsinternal data management, reporting, analytic and research resources and, whenappropriate, selects and manages external suppliers, ensuring timely, on-budgetdelivery on expectations.
