Job Description:

The Endowment & Foundation Specialist (EFS) is a producing role directly responsible for driving donor-advised fund growth and adoption across Merrill Lynch and the Private Bank Advisors and clients nationally. This individual will serve as the Private Bank’s Donor-advised Fund team’s Sales leader, partnering closely with the National Donor-advised Fund Executive in setting our DAF sales strategy and executing on this strategy across Merrill and the Private Bank Divisions, Regions and Markets and driving engaged partnership with our critical internal (e.g. Wealth Strategists) and external (e.g. Charitable Solutions, National Philanthropic Trust) partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive awareness and adoption of donor-advised funds among Merrill PWA/FA and Private Bank PCA teams and their clients

  • Drive donor-advised fund new client inflows across GWIM

  • Identify and qualify larger & more complex opportunities

  • Drive sales process for opportunities sourced by ML FA/PWA and Private Bank PCA teams

  • Lead execution on ongoing market leader and advisor engagement, ongoing

  • Work with GWIM market leaders to set execution strategy, uncover opportunities and drive adoption and growth

  • Act as initial point of contact for new opportunities to assess deal potential, prioritize sales team resources and over time build sales team

  • Serve as lead DAF team member in executing on gifts of complex assets

  • Partner and coordinate with the CGF Client Delivery team lead and team members as necessary to ensure a superior and smooth, consistent communication and messaging to Advisors and clients alike

  • Cultivate and manage the DAF team’s network of outside Donor-advised Fund providers

  • Act as subject matter expert for charitable investments and all donor-advised fund opportunities

  • Attend and present at internal leadership, canvassing opportunities and industry conferences

  • Manage all sales related tracking and sales performance reporting, both Charitable Gift Fund and Outside DAF our DAF practice internally and externally as called upon, engaging with BofA Executive Leadership, industry leaders, thought leaders and community organizations and their memberships

Desired Skills:

  • Deep understanding of charitable giving and planning, charitable laws, regulation and tax deduction rules and donor-advised funds

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Expertise and knowledge around wealth management practices, wealth planning and the charitable sector generally

  • Understand how to navigate the organization effectively to gain visibility, establish credibility, develop followership and meets our donor-advised funds sales objectives

  • Strong influencing, collaboration and sales management skills

  • Experience and credibility as a sales practitioner

  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills

  • Ability to diagnose client needs and objectives, and structure solutions to secure new business

  • Strong listening, self-awareness and probing skills

  • Deep understanding of key charitable, investment and donor-advised fund industry best practices, trends and strategies
