Pfizer Information Scientist in Bothell, United States

ROLE SUMMARY

The Information Scientist is an experienced professional directly supporting the continuum of PRD's information needs related to its portfolio of assets. The role will provide advanced range of expertise/knowledge in scientific information to support PRD. The role will provide growing leadership to relevant information projects within PRD and apply new approaches to information challenges. The role requires analytical skills, a mid-level aptitude for data collection, excellent communication skills, and developing experience in managing stakeholder relations. Consistent follow-through and ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, suppliers, and key stakeholders to drive execution of the Scientific Information strategy are critical to success.

ROLE FOCUS

  • Support Development, Medical, and Regulatory projects/teams at primary sites with value-added scientific information through SME searching/analysis, education/outreach, consulting, etc.

  • Partner with scientists and stakeholders to identify information needs/gaps to solve.

  • Lead licensing negotiations/renewals, education/outreach, and vendor relations for select eResources.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Experienced professional with developing SME knowledge and application of relevant information resources and tools to current and future projects.

  • Educates end-users in effective ways to find and use information through consultancy. Develops, promotes, and supports awareness and outreach programs (in partnership with external suppliers) to enable effective use of information resources and tools.

  • Supports existing systems, processes, tools, and platforms, to effectively manage published content. Recommends digital and technology solutions to improve information workflow/access for end-users.

  • Conducts targeted online research with developing interpretation/analysis of results (when necessary) using subscription resources and tools; Learns to translate search results into actionable recommendations.

  • Learns to interpret internal/external business challenges and best practices to recommend improvements to products, processes, or services.

  • Provides leadership and management on projects within Scientific Information team, working across PRD or with stakeholders and business partners.

  • Develops and sustains strategic partnerships in PRD to meet critical business needs for external information.

  • Contributes to a robust information consulting team. Participates in developing the overall Scientific Information strategy.

  • Works independently with minimal supervision on most assignments using knowledge and work experience to achieve desired results.

  • Takes responsibility for select resources related to technological solutions or eContent, including license negotiations with external vendors.

  • May lead small to medium teams and supervise contingent workers.

  • May provide formal/informal mentoring within Work/Project Team.

  • May present at external conferences or authors publications; May serve on relevant advisory boards, panels, and/or committees.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA degree in Biology/Chemistry/Library/Information Science plus 5 years related experience or MS degree in Biology/Chemistry/Library/Information Science plus 3 years related experience.

  • Expertise in demonstrating/teaching information resources/tools to end-users.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to build strong internal and external customer relationships and collaborations.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium teams and work as part of a team is a must. Experience working on virtual teams is preferred.

  • Must have ability to work independently with minimal supervision and arrange workload to meet priorities and deadlines.

  • Advanced technical knowledge of information tools and processes (including text mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence), along with a firm understanding of how information is applied in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in using collaboration tools is preferred.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $93,500.00 to $155,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
