This Principal Cyber Systems Engineer / Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer will support the five year, U.S. Space Force (USSF) Cyber Defense Engineering and Training II (CDET II) contract at Buckley AFB, Colorado in support of the 50th Space Wing.

Duties:

  • Design, develop, and execute preventative measures to secure and fortify satellite command and control networks principally for the Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) mission system.

  • Provide analysis and support for cybersecurity engineering and architecture considerations affecting DoD IT assets used to enable Space Force missions.

  • Provide recommendations for cybersecurity and network hardening (Microsoft Windows and Linux networks) improvements.

  • Resolve assigned EGS mission system Discrepancy Report (DR) as a member of a Scrum Team.

  • Draft software scripts which enhance cybersecurity functions.

  • Provide analysis focused on cyber defense data flows/usage and transactions.

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and risk analysis.

  • Work performed throughout systems development life cycle to include concept, design, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

  • Responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and making recommendations to employ current and emerging technologies, COTS software, or GOTS software for integration into the existing EGS mission system under development.

  • Translate customer requirements into technical solutions that address EGS Discrepancy Reports.

  • Recommends plans to re-architect assigned Government IT systems to improve cyber resilience.

  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions must be consistent with organization objectives.

  • Independently determines and develops technical solutions.

  • Frequent customer interaction.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum 5 years of experience. May consider an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum 3 years of SIEM, IDS, or IPS maintenance/implementation experience.

  • Must possess an active IAT III certification from the following: CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH

  • Demonstrated complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field of cyber security. General knowledge of other related disciplines.

  • Must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance. US citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic Microsoft Windows and Linux administration

  • Experience using configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet

  • Experience using GITLab

  • Experience using Jira

  • System Hardening experience

  • Experience working as an Agile Scrum team member
