As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Vision), you will resolve challenging process engineering problems of diverse scope specific to machine vision inspections for medical devices including. Providing SME technical support to vision inspections at ADC & ADC contract manufacturers and suppliers. Responsible for the implementation of Vision related Process, Equipment and Material inspection systems, developing a close understanding of the manufacturing process and interpreting the factors that affect product performance. Conducting engineering investigations into potential quality and/or yield related Vision issues, using emulation and data analysis techniques to define root cause and subsequently deliver robust and effective solutions, ensuring ADC delivers safe and effective products that meet customer needs whilst maintaining compliance and production output requirements. This is an onsite opportunity based in Austin, TX or Buffalo Grove, IL.
What You'll Do
Be the first point of contact for all machine vision related issues and projects
Responsible for providing Technical SME support for automated vision to Contract Manufacturing Sites in USA/IRE to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner.
Responsible for authoring technical and change control related documentation and ensuring these are completed in accordance with ADC QA and Regulatory requirements.
Investigation of potential quality and/or yield related vision issues, using emulation and data analysis techniques and analyzing outcomes in order to deliver effective solutions.
Process Development activities including risk assessments, characterization and optimization of existing vision jobs/algorithms including conducting line trials where required.
Standardization of best machine vision practices across multiple sites.
Specification and development of automated vision inspection solutions for future automated manufacturing lines/ equipment.
Support NPI (New Product Introduction) initiatives.
Contribute to ADC GMI plans and initiatives working with TPM(s) to identify cost reduction opportunities.
Coordinate and implement process and equipment projects and provide validation support.
Review/schedule obsolescence replacements as required.
Identification of opportunities for new/alternative technologies, innovations and driving continuous improvement activities.
Collaborate with all internal departments and external suppliers where required. The nature of the work will rely on close collaboration with many other internal functions (eg RA/QA/R&D/Operations/Engineering) and with key external TPM stakeholders and suppliers.
Travel to sites as required for training and project implementation.
Experience You'll Bring
Required
Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) in Engineering/Technical Discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Physics preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
MS degree ideal.
Minimum 6 years solid knowledge of general Engineering principals. Good knowledge of design controls and regulations for medical device development, (ISO134851, ISO13485, FDA).
Strong technical experience in mechanical or chemical engineering with excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Strong understanding of processes and materials used in the development and manufacturing of medical devices, particularly diabetes strips
Experience in all of the following:
performing complex engineering calculations and relating results to controlled tests, including statistical analysis, tolerance analysis working in a development environment with a disciplined process/product development process.
Writing process/product requirements and design specifications.
Working on a development team with an emphasis on minimizing time to market.
Design for manufacture of low cost, high volume electronic products. development of processes in an FDA regulated environment with full understanding of GxP, ISO and medical device regulations.
Working in cross functional team environments is required.
