What Health System Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health
Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.
Health System Pharmacy is responsible for providing customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals, health systems and other integrated healthcare providers may also consult with and advise healthcare team on prescribed medications, supplies and related processes.
Job Summary
The Cardinal Health Director of Pharmacy will provide oversight of medication management and pharmacy operations for Bunkie General Hospital. The director ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal services; meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements; and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards of the organization.
Bunkie General Hospital is a 25 bed critical access hospital in Bunkie, LA. The Director of Pharmacy is a working manager role that will oversee the pharmacy managed by Cardinal Health.
Responsibilities
Develops and enforces policies and procedures that promote cost-effective, appropriate, and safe medication use.
Develops and maintains a medical staff-approved formulary.
Supervises medication storage and preparation areas throughout the facility.
Provides for the educational needs of health care professionals, patients, and their families.
Ensures maintenance of an adequate medication supply. Ensures the integrity of the medication supply. Establishes specifications for the procurement of medications, chemicals, and biologicals.
Supervises all pharmacy personnel and hires, promotes, disciplines, and terminates pharmacy staff.
Prepares work schedules and monitors workload statistics. Maintains an appropriate staffing level.
Reviews monthly financial statistics and plans expenditures within budget guidelines.
Administers reports, documents, payroll records, statistical surveys, and other required data.
Ensures compliance with health system policies and procedures that apply to pharmacy services. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications
Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree or higher.
Must be a “good standing” licensed Pharmacist and/or eligible for licensure in the state of Louisiana.
Louisiana Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) or ability to become Pharmacist-in-Charge.
Previous hospital experience highly preferred.
Prior management experience highly preferred.
Ability to negotiate, influence, and resolve customer/employee problems or conflicts to meet the needs of external and internal customers.
Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals.
Excellent planning, organizing and leadership skills.
Flexibility with schedule, ability to work on call or be in an on call rotation.

Anticipated salary range: $119,800 - $179,655.
