Do you want to use your hard earned skills and drive to make a difference in the lives of patients? This candidate will join the Discovery Proteomic Platforms (DPP) group within the Discovery Technologies and Molecular Pharmacology (DTMP) department of Therapeutics Discovery, to apply groundbreaking approaches to proteomic analysis. This effort will support the identification and development of small and large molecule therapeutics for diseases within Oncology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases, Neuroscience, and Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases. Work in an exciting, interdisciplinary environment, overlapping the different stages of the discovery pipeline. Lead a team dedicated to deploying groundbreaking mass spectrometry proteomics technologies to optimize biologic therapeutics and identify translatable biomarkers from the lab to the clinic. With your help, we will drive development of medicines for our patients!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, oversee and perform wet lab proteomic activities for biomarker discovery and enrichment of HLA presented peptides for therapeutic optimization.

  • Apply high efficiency proteomics sample preparation methodologies across many experiment types (global proteomic profiling, immunoprecipitation, affinity, PTM analysis).

  • Collaborate with bioinformatic and wet lab colleagues from within the proteomics group to drive experiments across the drug discovery portfolio.

  • Demonstrate creativity and apply novel approaches to solving scientific problems. Propose novel and practical ideas, aligned with scientific strategies and demands.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A Doctorate is required (in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Immunology, or a related field) is required

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • A minimum 5 years experience of proven experience in a proteomics laboratory setting is required, preferably including 2 or more years in a drug discovery biotech or pharmaceutical environment is required

  • Experience with liquid chromatography (Waters nanoAcquity or Thermo EASY-nLC or UltiMate 3000) and mass spectrometry (Thermo QE, Exploris, Eclipse, Lumos or Bruker timsTOF) instrumentation is required

  • Experience processing and analyzing large scale global proteomic datasets is required

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle several projects at a time is required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact successfully with diverse colleagues is required

Preferred

  • Proficiency with lab liquid handling automation (Beckman Biomek, Hamilton Microlab STAR, TECAN Fluent, Dynamic Devices Lynx) use is preferred

  • Experience planning and performing immunopeptidomic (MHC class I or 2) experiments is preferred
