New Jersey American Water serves the Cramer Hill and East Camden sections of Camden. American Water Contract Services operates and maintains the water supply and distribution system assets owned by the City of Camden Division of Utilities. We are looking for a Dynamic * Water Distribution Operations Manager for the Contract Services Group! Please apply for immediate consideration. * _ Primary Role_ The Water Distribution Operations Manager is primarily responsible for the planning and delivery of all water operations and maintenance activities required under the service agreement contract, including but not limited to valve and fire hydrant operation and maintenance as required by the New Jersey Water Quality Accountability Act (“NJWQAA”), tracking key elements of non-revenue water, planning and execution of leak survey program. _ Key Accountabilities_ * Responsible for ensuring appropriate health and safety measures are established and carried out in system operations and maintenance. * Directly or indirectly supervises all staff assigned to their management purview. Demonstrates visible "leadership by example" utilizing participative management involving employees and teamwork whenever possible. Interacts with subordinates, superiors, other agencies, and the client to facilitate smooth system function. * Plans, manages, and executes the annual valve operating plan for the entire system according to the NJ WQAA. * Proactively develops, plans, executes, and maintains a leak survey program for the entire water system. * Review and maintain reports, records, and drawings within area of responsibility across all departments. * Monitors and controls costs according to the operational, capital and Maintenance Repair and Replacement (“MR&R”) plan. * Coordinates activities in the implementation of Capital Projects and Emergency Repairs. * Must be able to adhere to the leadership team on call rotation * Performs other duties as assigned. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Demonstrated leadership skills in managing and supervising distribution operations and maintenance, * Ability to build and sustain a collaborative, high performance team culture that encourages creativity, innovation, empowerment, and vision. * Proactively introduces change into the facility to address emerging issues. * Encourages the effective use of technology to improve operations. * Computer literate; MS Word, MS Excel, and CMMS systems. * Able to communicate effectively will all levels of the organization. * Institutionalizes the concepts of continuous quality improvement activities, performance measures and benchmarking. * Ability to clearly articulate complex issues both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical people * Knowledge of techniques, equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in operations, maintenance, construction, and mechanical repair of water/wastewater facilities and appurtenances. * Knowledge of health and safety regulations. * Strong knowledge of computers. * Experience operations of waterworks facilities including distribution systems piping, tanks, pump stations, pressure reducing stations with related equipment, controls and SCADA systems, and data collection and leak detection technologies. _ Experience/Education_ * 10+ years’ experience in the water utility industry with 5+ years of managerial experience in the Operations and Maintenance of a water distribution system. * Proven ability to interface with key stakeholders and resources effectively. * Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in sanitary, chemical, civil, electrical or mechanical engineering; public or business administration; or other equivalent concentration strongly preferred; additional years of experience may be substituted for education. * / Must be able to successfully pass an American Water’s pre-employment screenings./ _ Certifications & Licenses_ * Must possess a valid state (of residence) active driver’s license and successfully pass a motor vehicle background check. * Must possess a NJ Class T3 or W3 license _ Work Environment_ * Mix of field and office as job demands require * Must be physically able to work indoor or outdoor work during seasonal heat and cold, or other adverse weather conditions. * Must be physically able to work in confined space environments.
