Join us as an early to mid-career Battery Systems Engineer to join our mission supporting the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program. For over 60 years, the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) team has supported the Navy’s mission to provide affordable and credible strategic defense.

Key activities you will accomplish in this role:

• Derive requirements for battery systems and devices for missile electrical systems.

• Responsible for coordination, development, and oversight of battery products at both Lockheed Martin and subcontractor facilities for missile programs.

• Responsible for execution of battery engineering efforts for current development and production hardware.

• Responsible for execution across multiple programs and platforms coordinating resources as required to be successful. Execution will involve communication through multiple channels to ensure coordination is maintained and timely status of progress and issue resolution is provided.

• Responsible for resolution of technical issues impacting development or production of flight hardware. Resolution of issues can involve cross program and customer coordination.


Typical mins for this role:

• 5 - 9 years of professional experience for this role.

• Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance , thus you are a US Citizen .

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

• Prior experience with interpretation and application of engineering requirements.

• Prior experience with root cause investigations.

• Demonstrated experience with supplier interactions.

• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance, thus US citizenship is required.

Desired Skills:

• Prior experience with development and production of battery systems for space or missile applications.

• Strong understanding of electrochemistry.

• Direct manufacturing Experience

• Prior experience designing and implementing tests as part of failure investigations.

• Familiarity with ANSI Y14.2, 1978 through current release.

• Prior experience with requirement authoring, design package creation, and/or test procedure generation.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Top Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
