Lockheed Martin Space in Cape Canaveral, Florida is seeking a Summer 2025 System Safety Engineer Intern. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of MS Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project; knowledge of hardware/software safety requirement development; and a basic understanding of system safety engineering and design engineering.
Must be a US Citizen;This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
In this role, you will participate in the following:
• Assist in hardware/software safety requirements development and ensuring flow-down into the Systems process
• Assist in performing a variety of hazard analyses
across the full product life cycle
• Assist in reviewing design specifications, test operations, change proposals, deficiency reports, and deviation/waiver requests for safety impacts
• Assist in the preparation of presentations, analyses, and reports for government safety boards, program design reviews, and test/mission readiness reviews
Basic Qualifications:
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, industrial engineering, software engineering or a related discipline.

communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
• Interest in system safety engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or related field
• Proficient with MS Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
