Weyerhaeuser Harvest Manager in Carrollton, Georgia

Weyerhaeuser is searching for a Harvest Manager to support our Coastal Piedmont Region within the Southern Timberlands division. This position reports directly to the Chattahoochee Wood Flow Manager and the location requirement will be in Carrollton, GA or up to 60 miles north of Carrollton. The role requires significant driving time to and from logging jobs and field time planning and managing harvesting operations.

Key Functions

As a Harvest Manager, you will play a pivotal role within the Chattahoochee Team, responsible for contract administration and the execution of the harvesting and transportation strategy to meet plan volume and market commitments. Your role will include field verification of harvest plans, in-woods recon information, harvesting contract negotiation, harvest operation supervision, contractor safety plan compliance, product merchandizing and utilization, timely system updates, monitoring of contract performance, assurance of acceptable thinning quality, ensure environmental compliance, addressing contract noncompliance and performance issues, and the management of logging road maintenance activities.You will be a key contributor and integral to the success of Wood Flow, Marketing, Silviculture, Planning, and Geographic Leaders in meeting their annual plans and goals.

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Forestry or related field,ORequivalent combination of education/experience; a Bachelors degree (or higher) with at least 2 years of related experience is preferred
  • Commitment to and the ability to exemplify and promote a safe work environment

  • Ability to determine and use conversion factors between alternate scales and weights
  • Understanding of quality specifications for raw materials across customer markets and how log characteristics impact delivered raw material and standing timber values
  • Ability to use cost, volume, quality, and other supplier data to evaluate performance
  • Knowledge of and ability to recognize conformance to safety, environmental, labor and transportation laws and regulations as they apply to the harvesting function
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Thrives in a self-motivated, self-directed work environment where effective time management is crucial
  • Understanding of total system concepts and demonstrated competence in collaborating across business and organizational boundaries
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel, along with various other computer software and applications
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and adeptness in safely operating a vehicle
  • Ability to safely maneuver in and around active harvesting sites (typically means maneuvering uneven ground and being around heavy equipment that is in operation)

What We Offer

Compensation:This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $56,547 - $84,820 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement:Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation:We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
