Role Value Proposition
The Director, Business Continuity role is a new and expanded transformation role within the Global Business Continuity team. The role will lead the execution of resilience transformation initiatives, focused on enhancing MetLife’s operational readiness to continue to deliver critical business services to our customers during crisis events. This role reports to the AVP, Corporate Business Continuity and will manage the operational resilience book of work for multiple functional areas and/or a region/line of business. The role will partner with business leadership and technology teams to review and challenge results of LOB Business Impact Assessment (BIAs), Business Continuity (BC) Plans, and both BC and end-to-end service testing and execution. This role also has responsibility for providing business continuity leadership support during large-scale crisis events such as a pandemic or ransomware event. This role’s partnership with other risk stakeholders in third-party risk, operational risk, technology resilience and regional/country LoB leadership is critical to the delivery of a consistent, streamlined, and integrated industry-leading global resiliency framework in the region.
Key Responsibilities
Implement the enterprise-wide operational resilience initiatives
Advise and partner with key stakeholders on resilience matters
Engage with leadership teams to identify, engage, train, and upskill dedicated BC Coordinators and business process/plan owners
Manage the operational resilience books of work including (BIAs, BC Plans, Testing, Metrics and Reporting)
Work with local and regional IT on mapping and integrating network, hardware, and software topology and dependencies into processes and plans to accelerate recovery
Support identification of Third-Party vendors, map current dependencies, assess vendor resiliency plans and advise on risks and make recommendations
Advise on continuous risk, issue, and gap identification and management in accordance with Global BC policy standards
Serve as a member of Regional Crisis Management Teams
Partner with crisis management lead to provide support during large-scale incidents
Build strong working relationships and drive collaboration with resiliency stakeholders across the region and provide input to support the ongoing improvement efforts of the Global Resilience program
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills
Strong relationship and stakeholder management
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in business continuity or disaster recovery, preferably in the insurance and/or financial services industry
Certified in, or broad understanding of ISO 22301 and other international BC / disaster recovery (DR) standards
Business acumen and regional knowledge of regulations and resilience requirements
Knowledge of cultural nuances in doing business in region
Experience with Business Continuity Management / Risk Management Systems (e.g., Fusion and Archer)
Sound knowledge in the business continuity lifecycle and experience implementing and developing a BC framework
Familiarity with regional business continuity regulatory requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Experience working in a global matrix environment is helpful
