Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products (BCP) division of Construction Industries (CI) is hiring a Sales & Marketing Manager, Dealer Development over the Americas to develop product / marketing/distribution strategies specifically relating to the sales of Caterpillar products and services through our dealer network as we further develop our focus on serving the retail and small core customers across the Americas. What You’ll Do:
Leading the daily work and strategic direction of 5 or more field-based employees focused on Caterpillar Sales and Retail/Transactional execution
Driving accountability of employees in the areas of strategic plans, budgets, and results
Implementation of the Caterpillar Retail Strategy focused on Customer Needs with dealers across the Americas
Managing a seven-figure budget for dealer initiatives aimed at expanding retail sales of prime products and parts and service
Developing and managing new projects to support dealer sales and profitability
Hiring, developing, and training a team to help achieve desired results
Managing growth plans in cooperation with dealers in their retail transformation
Responsibility for Net Loyalty Scores, and new customer growth targets
Responsibility for Expansion of Physical Dealer Coverage and partnership with the retail center of excellence in analyzing opportunity
Support of the implementation of online sales platforms and integration with Shop.cat.com
Representing CI on Marketing and Sales Excellence Program enhancements where required
Partnering across the organization to drive results with our partners in rental, aftermarket, distribution, and product
What You Have :
Customer Focus : Proven ability to foster strong customer relationships through effective communication, commitment delivery, and proactive needs anticipation. Background in retail, sales, or business-to-consumer distribution.
Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of industry trends, market positions, and regulatory considerations. Experience in field-based roles at Caterpillar, competitors, or dealerships, with the ability to educate others on industry standards and practices.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience with a strong aptitude for decision-making. Skilled in evaluating past decisions, assessing alternatives, and predicting potential impacts. Proven accountability for goal setting, execution, measurement, and results tracking.
Effective Communications: Adept at adapting documents and presentations for various audiences, demonstrating empathy and assertiveness, and maintaining focus on key topics. Strong human relations and organizational skills.
Negotiating : Skilled in achieving win-win outcomes through active listening, probing techniques, and presenting positions while considering others' perspectives. Background in sales and business-to-consumer distribution.
Relationship Management: Expertise in establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships within dealer/sales networks. Strong organizational and communication skills.
Business Development : Proficient in exploring and developing potential areas of business growth. Experience in implementing business development incentive programs and researching new opportunities.
Value Selling: Skilled in value selling techniques, including researching customer industries, quantifying proposed costs and benefits, and defining value-added activities. Background in sales and customer-focused roles.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Experience in Caterpillar/Dealer retail business or initiatives
Prior field sales experience
Strong interest and track record of analytics, strategic vision
Extensive project management and people management skills
Summary Pay Range:
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
