THIS POSITION IS ON-SITE M-F IN CEDAR FALLS, IA

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for helping to define, develop, implement and manage an SPC system within Viking’s operations. This position will participate in the company's Quality Assurance system by executing strategic plans, policies, procedures and programs within operations and at the supplier level to ensure the product and/or materials meet or exceed internal and external customers' needs and expectations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement and sustain SPC activities, including defining objectives, identifying software and gaging, and implementing new techniques as they become available.

  • Facilitates programming of Quality metrology equipment including but not limited to CMM, scanner, etc.

  • Assist Quality Management in the selection and utilization of the appropriate qualification methods, process controls and improvement techniques

  • Supports the effort to achieve and maintain alignment in the value chain between the suppliers and Viking in all form, fit, function and delivery requirements

  • Measures, monitors and reports supplier’s fiscal conditions including pricing, OTD & DPPM

  • Coordinates the inputs, updates and regularly distributes the Supplier Scorecard reports to the suppliers and to Viking management

  • Is responsible to measure Measurement System error between Viking and the supply base by working closely with the Quality Manager and the Director/Manager Supply Chain to conduct Measurement System Evaluations as needed and subsequently is responsible to monitor and report as-delivered quality.

  • Works closely with Commodity Manager/Buyer, Quality Supervisor and Supplier’s quality contact to identify and eliminate root cause of defects specific to product form, fit and function (NCMR process)

  • Create workbooks and evaluate documents/results in reference to Viking’s PPAP process.

  • Participate in internal and external quality audits

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree with background in quality, manufacturing or industrial technology.

  • Minimum 3 years of quality engineering and/or process improvement experience

  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques/principles

  • Proficient in using quality tools and software

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Ability to solve complex problems and exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

  • Ability to support and/or lead root cause analysis, disciplined problem-solving and decision-making processes.

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements preferred.

  • Travel (Infrequent)

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.

  • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.

  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.

  • General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks & showcase organizational skills

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with domestic and international customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.

  • Must be able to work and effectively communicate with all levels of company personnel, field sales employees, distributors, end users and suppliers.
