BAE Systems is searching for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to work across the Navigation and Sensor Systems (NSS) Operations business unit in support of Microelectronics, Surface Mount Assembly, Top Level Build & Test, Warehouse and Logistics production areas. The person selected for the position will be part of the NSS Operations Excellence team responsible for supporting the growth of Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean Manufacturing across the business.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Ownership, prioritization and cadence of the NSS site annual continuous improvement plan.

  • Driving change and support the development of a Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean culture.

  • Independent operation throughout the NSS business unit and lead others through the demonstration of Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean knowledge.

  • Facilitation of the ongoing strategic 35-year facility layout to ensure most efficient and productive layout and prepare the facility for future growth.

  • Assisting the NSS leadership team with preparation & cadence of key business metrics, Project Performance Reviews (PPR) and periodic Operational Assessments.

  • Working with various levels management, build, and test personnel to drive waste from the production system.

  • Enhancing lean manufacturing education across the operations team.

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor Degree in a Technical Discipline and 4 plus years experience practicing Lean Manufacturing. In lieu of technical degree, 10 years experience in a manufacturing engineering lean/six sigma position. In depth understanding of Lean manufacturing tools and concepts including but not limited to: 7S & Visual Factory Management, Value Stream Mapping, Material Presentation and Kanban delivery systems, Standard Work, Inventory management.

  • Capacity to drive positive change in the organizational culture.

  • Confident with training and public speaking with the ability to lead/facilitate Kaizen events.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly convey operational metrics against targeted goals.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experienced in change management.

  • Experience in the electronics manufacturing industry including: Microelectronics, Surface Mount Assembly (SMT), Top Level Assembly and Test, Warehouse & Logistics.

  • Experience with Six Sigma & 8D problem solving methodologies is a plus.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118504 - $201457

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
