This position is responsible for ensuring that raw and ready-to-eat (RTE) beef, veal, pork, poultry and seafood products and plant processes comply with corporate policies and regulatory standards across multiple production plants, supporting the company’s Food Safety and Quality culture, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

This position has been segmented as Remote Anywhere meaning the work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or United States Territories.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead plant FSQA Managers and provide technical expertise, oversight, and guidance to plant FSQA Managers to ensure FSQA policy adherence andregulatory compliance.

  • Contribute to the professional growth ofplant FSQA Managers throughgoal setting, experiential learning and stretch projects that align with corporate, plant and customer objectives.

  • Update existing FSQA programs and develop/implement new programs, procedures and processesat plants to improve upon corporate FSQA metrics, GFSI and other audits, regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction.

  • Foster a Food Safety and Quality culture of proactivity, collaboration, informeddecision-making and education to support continuous improvement .

  • Closely collaborate with other functional groups including Manufacturing, Sales, Maintenance, Operations, Product Development, Legal and Procurement on Food Safety and Quality matters to identify and assess root causes, implement corrective/preventative measures, and support change management.

  • Conduct corporateand internal GFSI and other audits to assess plants’ FSQA systems with a focus on mitigating external and internal risks, ensuring regulatory compliance and meeting customer expectations.

  • Critically assess existing data streams and metrics and develop new processes to demonstrate FSQA system effectiveness.

  • Assist with customer inquiries, complaints, requests and programs.

  • Research regulatory and customer requirements; draft standard operating procedures.

  • Conduct FSQA and regulatory program training.

  • Provide periodic updates to plant leadership teams regarding FSQA progress and opportunities for improvement.

  • Maintain FSQA database related to plant compliance with various FSQA programs.

  • Assist with product hold and recoveries.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by your manager.

Qualifications:

Education/Training:

  • B.Sc. in applicable field of science for the role (e.g meat science, animal science, food science, engineering or commensurate experience

  • Meat and/or Seafood HACCP and/or FSPCA Preventative Controls for Human Food

  • GFSI scheme experience, BRC or FSSC preferred and/or SQF Practitioner or equivalent

Related Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in FSQ management at federally inspected USDA-FSIS meat and/or FDA seafood plant(s).

  • Trained in Meat and/or Seafood HACCP and/or FSPCA Preventative Controls for Human Food.

  • GFSI scheme experience, BRC or FSSC preferredand/orSQF Practitioner or equivalent.

  • Experience with product specifications and AQL’s.

  • Knowledge of Food Microbiology, basic Statistics, Sanitation and sanitary equipment design.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong leader and mentor

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize; required

  • Deep understanding of environmental monitoring programs

  • Deep knowledge/understanding and application of FSMA/Preventive Controls, Food Safety Plan design, measurement, documentation and training; required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including the ability to relate and positively influence at all organizational levels

Travel:

  • Up to 50-75% travel

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In Colorado , the expected compensation for this role is between $96,500 - $128,700. In New York , the expected compensation for this role is between $107,500 - $143,300. In California , the expected compensation for this role is between $102,100 - $136,200. In Washington , the expected compensation for this role is between $102,100 - $136,200. This role is also eligible for annual incentive plan bonus.
