This support role will be responsible for a variety of activities including providing oversight of contractors and vendors, managing inventory, ordering parts and materials, monitoring job site conditions and more. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical aptitude and have a strong communication and customer service skills. _ Primary Role_ /Responsible for providing analytic, financial and process support to Operations on critical business needs. Develops, modifies, and implements effective and efficient processes, programs and controls, championing innovation and best practices. Complies and analyzes key performance indicators, makes recommendations for process improvements, and supports operations management on both capital budgeting and financial reporting matters. Manages property activities across the district. / _ Key Accountabilities_ * Encourages best practices and innovation throughout operational areas and works collaboratively to mitigate business risks. * Defines and documents processes and manages execution to ensure compliance. * Makes recommendations to improve performance within operations. * Manage property maintenance and repair activities, including capital replacements, at property sites and structures across all the service areas, including items such as parking lots, roofs, fences, HVAC, etc. * Manage the operations center infrastructure including most routine maintenance and capital activities. * Manage landscaping activities for the various properties. * Manage monthly production operating and capital budget review and analysis. * Support and participate in safety and security assessments and other related activities for the properties in the service district. * Manage various aspects of the capital budget and capital budget process, including Power Plan work orders applicable to the production group. * Complete month end reporting processing, including accruals, required accounting submissions and billing. * Support Tool and Equipment Management within the Production Department. * Supervise an operations support employee in the production group and serve as a backup for the critical activities of that role. * Collaborate with contractors and vendors on projects. * Lead and collaborate with AW employees and contractors on project design and implementation. * Provides analytical, process and administrative support for Operations' regulatory compliance programs. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Excellent analytical, quantitative, problem solving and decision-making skills. * Strong planning, organizational and project management skills. * Ability to utilize multiple methods of analysis. * Strong leadership skills and the ability to build productive working relationships with other functions, lead cross-functional teams, and motivate and develop staff. * Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders. * Strong focus on quality and customer service. * Ability to effectively train others in systems and processes. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access). * Understanding of financial reporting requirements, methods of process development and analysis, and use of analytical tools. _ Experience/Education_ * Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field preferred. * Equivalent experience in the water or wastewater industry may be substituted for education. * Experience using analytical tools and defining and documenting processes. * Experience communicating directly with external customers. * Experience in training others in systems and processes. * Experience supervising preferred but not required. _ Hours/Schedule_ * Full-time * Monday-Friday, daylight hours * On-call responsibility _ Travel Requirements_ * Occasional day or overnight travel required. _ Certifications & Licenses_ * Valid Driver’s License with clean MVR. _ Work Environment_ * Office and plant environment, with some time spent in field office locations. _ Competencies_ Prioritizes & Role Models Safety Self-Awareness Develops Talent Plans, Aligns, & Directs Drives Engagement Decision Quality * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.
