Job Summary
The role will be responsible for accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting support to Power Grid Operations Carolinas West Region Services organization. This position requires a blended knowledge of technical and functional financial reporting and analysis skills. This position works closely with the business customers to analyze and report variances, trends and plans. Key activities include financial planning, managing the budget development as well as monthly, year to date, and year-end financial analysis. The role will work with business representatives at all levels to provide the expertise/assistance necessary for the business to achieve financial success.
Responsibilities:
Provide financial, accounting, and business management analytical support to various levels of management and customers.
Budget development for supported functions.
Evaluate and report business unit Region Major Projects O&M and capital budget variances that allows for accurate financial reporting and accurate year end projections.
Consolidating reporting and analysis for both Region Major Projects and Transmission Major Projects for Region Services VP and Staff.
Support the reporting process to facilitate understanding of business and variance impacts to zone and employees.
Compile and analyze statistical data to identify and correct errors and to evaluate general content.
Prepare, check and/or post journal entries and accruals on an as needed basis.
Perform account reconciliations on an as needed basis.
Collaborate with peer analysts to improve work processes and efficiencies across all zones
Prepare financial schedules required to meet monthly and quarterly business unit data requests from Corporate Accounting.
Work with internal and external auditors, providing necessary information and answering questions as needed.
Assist in SOX documentation updates and management testing as needed.
Actively seek to identify and meet customer needs with a sense of urgency, taking ownership of customer issues and problems until resolved.

Required/Basic Qualifications (Financial Analyst II)
Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Other Related Degree
Two (2) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft, HFM, PowerPlan, etc.) and query tool (WebI)
Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Power Point
Required/Basic Qualifications (Senior Financial Analyst)

Three (3) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft, HFM, PowerPlan, etc.) and query tool (WebI)
Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Power Point
Desired Qualifications:
Six (6) years or more of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
CPA, CIS, CFA or CMA Certifications (or working toward certification)
Master’s in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
Experience in regulated utility accounting
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build relationships with customers at all levels within the organization
Ability to work independently and in a team environment; demonstrated initiative within current team
Working Conditions
Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
