Job Description:

This role sits within the Merchant Services Credit & Transaction Risk organization and is responsible for leading the underwriting efforts in collaboration and partnership with Corporate and Global Banking teams following the enterprise responsible growth culture. This role has significant oversight over operational, credit, and reputational risks and is required to manage the portfolio in accordance with Bank of America’s risk appetite framework. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Lead end-to-end Corporate Credit and Underwriting execution with direct responsibility of new account originations, portfolio management, work outs and collections for a Global portfolio.

  • Set strategic and tactical goals for the Corporate Credit and Underwriting team within the Merchant Services organization, and support efforts to build, enhance and transform credit platforms leveraging internal and external solutions.

  • Work collaboratively with key Bank partners including Client Management teams, Wholesale Credit, Credit Risk, Global Financial Crimes, Special Assets Group, and Treasury Services to drive relationship based decisions.

  • Work in partnership with Vendor Oversight leaders to manage third party relationships providing Credit and underwriting support to the Merchant Services program.

  • Talent management and development for a team of highly skilled credit and underwriting professionals located across multiple geographies including US, Canada, and the UK to ensure sound and consistent underwriting decisions aligned to the Bank’s responsible growth culture.

  • Partner cross functionally and globally to navigate Bank of America complex matrix structure to drive relationship based decisions. This role supports Enterprise Payments and covers primarily corporate clients and works closely with key stakeholders to drive results and responsible growth.

  • Support the advancement of processes, strategies and technologies that evolve and grow the organization through digitization, data, and technology advancements to build nimble processes and improve the overall customer experience.

Posting Required Skills

  • 15+ Years of working experience in enterprise wide and / or corporate credit risk management at a major financial institution with proven track record in building robust risk frameworks and processes including risk identification, business controls, strong monitoring and reporting, and risk rating management.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the enterprise risk appetite, retail and commercial credit underwriting, credit approval, risk rating models, credit monitoring, portfolio management, limits and triggers, and loss reserves.

  • Experience within Credit and Underwriting operating models, originations processes, credit risk control framework, and data management.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical and impactful manner, both internally and externally.

  • Must be comfortable working with senior management across the enterprise (first line of defense), Risk Control partners (second line of defense), as well as internal and external auditors.

  • Demonstrated strategic planning and execution leadership experience to ensure operational and supporting partners, at all levels, are fully aligned with the vision and objectives of the organization.

  • Effective organizational skills; ability to collaborate, manage, and expand relationships across the organization and with all levels of management.

  • Strong understanding of risk strategies, financial drivers, and credit/fraud operations with proven problem solving skills.

  • Strong relationship management skills to navigate the complexities of aligning stakeholders, building consensus and resolving conflicts in a large, distributed organization; proven ability to influence peers/stakeholders and leaders across various lines of business.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple and often competing priorities in a global environment.
