Job Duties/Responsibilities
General
Prioritize workload and manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously. Exhibit excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills. Willing and able to collaborate with international teams in various time zones.
Collaborate with cross functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing facilities to meet EIC targets for quality, cost, and velocity.
Installation
Design & detailing of Engine Installation & Cooling systems.
Experience in light structure design & detailing.
Design and routing of fluid systems (tubes, bulk hoses, molded hoses, ducts, etc)
Experience in Creo (Fluid lines design, Sheet metal, Solid modelling, castings, etc)
Responsible for EIC validation activities including analysis, test planning, and post-processing test data.
Quality
Provide engineering solutions to fix quality issues, e.g. NPI, BIQ, CPI, deviations.
Cost
Provide solutions for component cost reduction and re-sourcing.
Conduct should cost modellings.
Proficiencies/Capabilities - ideal
Completed a minimum of 1 New Product Introduction (NPI) cycle at Caterpillar.
Successfully closed a minimum of 1 CPI projects on-time at Caterpillar.
Complete a minimum of 1 product cost reduction project.
Experience collaborating with suppliers to ensure manufacturing feasibility.
Participated in a machine build.
Participated in a machine validation test.
Require limited direction but collaborate extensively with peers and process partners.
Follow all applicable design guide standards and product development processes.
Innovate new ideas and leverage existing/new technology to drive cross-product synergy.
In-depth understanding of the system and system interactions with the ability to make trade-offs at the machine level to avoid sub-optimization at the system level.
Ability to clearly organize and effectively communicate information in such a way that messages are understood and retained by others.
Demonstrated experience in the following tools/methods:
Cool-1/Dynasty
Teamcenter Engineering
Fluid Lines
Creo Simulate
Bolted Joint
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
Use of Engineering Standards, Specifications, REDI Design Guides
Proficiencies/Capabilities - minimum
