The Opportunity

Our Credit Risk Analytics team drives oversight of Deposits and Credit Fraud through analytics of business strategies and portfolio health. This unique opportunity will enable the Credit Risk professional to collaborate with others across the bank business units, risk management, and the USAA Enterprise in the management and assessment of credit risk.

We are looking for a dedicated Credit Risk Analyst to manage Senior - Deposit Credit Risk Oversight. This role involves using quantitative methods to assess risks and opportunities within the Deposit Credit Risk space. The ideal candidate will have risk management experience in a complex institution and/or a highly matrixed environment related to financial services.

Key qualifications for this position include:

  • Understanding of deposit account loss exposures and mitigation strategies.

  • Strong analytical, technical, and statistical skills.

  • Ability to synthesize/analyze diverse information, develop recommendations, and make decisions.

This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Applies industry leading practices and analytical rigor to manage and assess risks and opportunities across the Bank’s consumer portfolios and translates results into strategic solutions.

  • Partners to deliver on Bank strategies across lines of defense by effectively developing and improving complex analytical frameworks, analyzing data and processes, and clearly communicating information and insights to key stakeholders and leadership.

  • Applies industry knowledge to develop advanced and nuanced quantitative analysis utilizing extensive internal and external data sources to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous and challenging problems.

  • Challenges risk proposals in designated risk area of credit, market, operations, product, or strategic,,) through detailed research and vetting, leveraging banking product, regulatory and industry knowledge, and critical thinking skills to ensure strong portfolio performance outcomes.

  • Designs, builds, and may assist in maintaining effective risk management frameworks that enable identification, measurement, and mitigation of risk in a complex environment.

  • Develops and oversees comprehensive risk reporting in support of management and committee oversight of existing and emerging risks.

  • Designs complex financial risk sensitivity analysis.

  • Provides thought leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members regarding analytics and risk management.

  • May execute or implement advanced credit and/or financial modeling infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree

  • 6 years experience in an analytical field or work focused on leading risk management execution, assessments or advanced analytics OR 4 years experience in an analytical field or focused on risk management execution, analytics or risk assessments with an advanced degree in a quantitative, scientific, engineering, business or technical field OR an equivalent level of demonstrated competencies in industry leading risk management execution, advanced analytics, and risk assessments.

  • 2 years prior analytical experience in a financial services or highly regulated environment.

  • Experience delivering cross functional action plans by communicating complex analytical insights and compelling risk mitigating solutions.

  • Experience developing and maintaining analytical reporting.

  • Experience applying critical thinking skills to support successful performance outcomes.

  • Demonstrated awareness of relevant laws, rules and regulations, such as guidance and requirements associated with OCC Heightened Standards

  • Strong knowledge of current analytical coding languages such as Python, SAS, or SQL.

Preferred Experience:

  • Risk management experience in a complex institution and or highly matrixed environment related to financial services

  • Understanding of deposit account loss exposures and mitigation strategies

  • Strong analytical, technical, and statistical skills. Ability to synthesize / analyze diverse information, develops recommendations, and makes decisions.

  • Data science and analytics experience using SQL, SAS, and visualization tools (Tableau) preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to present complex and sensitive issues to management.

  • Proven ability to evaluate the business climate, anticipate change and develop compensating strategies/vision.

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $120,550 - $230,400 *(this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

*Geographical Differential : Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
