Pfizer Technical Lead, Data Science and Analytics Platforms in Chesterfield, Missouri


The Technical Lead,Data Science and Analytics Platformsfor Biotherapeutics Pharmaceutical Sciences (BTxPS) will lead theBTxPSeffort to deliver effective, efficient, and scalable technology solutions for the development of biological therapeutics in partnership with the Digital Strategy and Operations team.This position will be responsible for optimizingBTxPSapplications and workflows that improve the flowand useof data withinBTxPSfor the purpose of advanced analytics and data science.TheTechnical Lead,Data Science Platformswill partner withBTxPSDigital Strategy leadstodefine thestrategic direction of analytics and business intelligences and will translate that into roadmaps forBTxPSdigital enablement. This role will alsohelp to driveanalyticsdata product management and support digitaltwin efforts,data science platforms,natural language processing, and insight generation. Accountabilities will spanBTxPSplanningand use ofanalytic platforms/solutions.This position will collaborate with the larger Medicinal Sciences organization, Pfizer Global Supply, Pfizer Digital, and external partners as necessary.


  • Apply business and technical knowledge todeliver onbusiness goals for data analytics efforts in alignment withBTxPSDigital Strategy.

  • Develop and update roadmaps for analytics and data science efforts through close collaboration withBTxPSDigital leadership.

  • Provide guidance and gain alignment across stakeholders from different line and technical groups for effective use of analytics ecosystem capabilities

  • SupportBTxPSdata analytics, digital twin efforts, data science platforms, natural language processing, and insight generation

  • Use technical expertise to support the needs of predictive modeling and advanced analytics

  • Provide project management for related analytics deliverables including planning, estimation, coordination, and execution

  • Lead continuous improvements forBTxPSanalytics capabilities and drive adoption across the organization.

  • Resolve issues that affect analytics productivity inBTxPS.

  • Manage technical work activities of contingent worker resources to engineer data analytics solutions and ensure procedures and standards are adhered to.

  • Mentor otherBTxPScolleagues in available data analytics and platform capabilities and build organization analytics competencies

  • Oversee theBTxPSSpotfire Community of Practice

  • OverseeBTxPSanalytics training programs including outsourced training programs for Spotfire, R, and Python training


  • Bachelor's degree in science, statistics, data science, or related area with 5+ years' experience in the life science industry.

  • Understandingofbiologics development and the various systems and platforms required for the development of biologic therapeutics.

  • Experience in GMP & non-GMP labs including with cloud-based solutions in regulated environments.

  • Experience delivering analysis results using various visualization presentation software/tools, such as R Shiny, Spotfire, Tableau, etc.

  • Working experience with production repositories, developing data-science products, deployingAI/ML models, and followingdata science lifecycle.

  • Experience identifying opportunities for model enhancements and opportunities for new models to create value in thebiologicsdevelopment space.

  • Experience with databases.

  • Experience working in Amazon Web Services environments.

  • Interest in driving advanced analytics adoption in life sciences space.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and a track record of delivering solutions for multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.


  • Deep knowledge of biologics development at Pfizer or other large Biotech companies

  • Knowledge of keyBTxPSapplicationsincludingLabWare, Boomi, Empower, Microsoft.Net, Relational Database Systems, and Spotfire.

  • Some experience with Python, R.

  • Experience with executing projects using Agile framework.

  • Experience working with big data.

  • Experience with working with operationalizing and deploying data science/ML models a plus.

  • Experience in machine learning Regression, Clustering/Classification, Na├»ve Bayes, Bayesian, Gradient Descent, Time-Series, etc.

  • Experience in deep learning/AI frameworks,

  • Experience using Natural Language Processing (NLP), Linguistics, Advanced Semantic Design, Natural Language Generation (NLG), etc.

  • Experience using Graph Database, Knowledge graph,and withOntologiesand data standards.


  • Occasional work outside business hours to accommodate other Pfizer sites, partners and manufacturing schedules.

  • Up to 20% travel to Pharm Sci BTx (Andover, MA; St Louis, MO; Durham, NC; Cambridge, UK)
