Kellanova Director, Category Strategy in Chicago, Illinois

In your role as Director, Category Strategy, you will create and direct the strategy and execution of the Frozen Foods category vision. You will own the deployment of shelving and assortment guidance for industry-leading brands like Eggo and MorningStar Farms. Centering the shopper and consumer, you’ll align with our customer’s priorities and build partnerships. Strategically position Kellanova brands to deliver on the total category strategy, drive top-line growth, and enhance bottom-line profitability. This hybrid role will sit in Chicago, IL with the expectation to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday.

Leverage your understanding, ideally in the Frozen Foods category, to strategize and reignite interest, drive aisle traffic, and create compelling category stories to drive sales. As an integral part of the Frozen Foods team, you will shape our success in-store and help us on our journey to be “The Best.”

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Category Strategy - Develop and drive the Category Strategy of a dynamic and diverse category. You’ll manage the translation of Frozen Foods Vision to customer-specific initiatives through a shopper-first lens. This includes the development, communication, and measurement of Perfect Shelf standards at retail (and Perfect Pallet in Club) to increase conversion at shelf. You will also play a critical role in our innovation strategy and deployment to ensure a comprehensive, end-to-end approach.

  • Category Management - With a focus on creating the perfect shelf, you’ll own the process to identify Never Outs and Must Have assortment prioritization for the Frozen Foods category. You’ll manage the communication, enablement, and measurement of those recommendations, and work closely with your counterparts within the sales teams to deliver optimal category results.

  • Driving Engagement - Through your strong partnership with your peers (Directors of Commercial Strategy, Innovation, Sales, Category Management, and Revenue Growth Management), you’ll establish discipline to provide the right pack in the right place for the right price.

    We’re Looking for Someone With

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with strong experience in category strategy (frozen category experience is a plus).

  • Experience utilizing syndicated data (including Nielsen or IRI) to make decisions and create persuasive recommendations.

  • Strong technology skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Extensive analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.

  • Previous people leadership experience is required, as this role will include direct reports.

  • Strong communication skills as this is a cross-functional role and will be working closely with the sales team.

  • Ability to create best-in-class selling stories and category direction. Solid presentation skills in front of customers and senior leadership to articulate category dynamics and how are brands can provide growth.
