This is a full-time, exempt position.

MAIN FUNCTION: Reporting to the VP –NA Soy Crush this position is accountable for working within a team environment to execute ADM’s North American soybean meal export program to support NA crush assets. This position is responsible for developing trading strategies to enhance division and company profits. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing pipeline logistics, destination trading and position management. Additionally this position will be responsible for daily communication of export market values and trends to a broader audience. Ideal candidate would show strong interest for international career opportunities in the future.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:

Learn to analyze and forecast fundamental global soybean/soybean meal market trends and competitor activities, revising marketing strategies and programs to capitalize on identified opportunities.

Assist in managing risk for the business segment through trading of basis, futures, spreads, & freight arbitrage of global soybean meal markets.

Interact with key customer accounts and maintains ongoing and regular communications with customers to enhance relationships and customer service.

Work closely with various internal groups to ensure the most cost effective means for coordinating ADM’s operations.

Develop key communication links within ADM to ensure optimal use of the company’s facilities and market access, an understanding and awareness of market requirements, build relationships and facilitate the effectiveness of integrated grain operations.

Represent the NA Oilseed division on various external meetings, committees and associations in developing and influencing the industry and promoting ADM interests.

Create an environment which fosters teamwork and continuous improvement.

Track progress towards the achievement of business plans and objectives, as outlined, and initiates action as required.

Prepare and submit regular and ad hoc reports to Oilseed Management team regarding achievements, opportunities, and issues.

Grow and further develop ADM’s container market access for soybean meal. Build relationships with ADM’s global network to support ADM NA soy crush assets by marketing soybean meal in containers. Develop logistics strategies, find new opportunities and negotiate rates for transport and put-through. Execute arbitrage possibilities to enhance profitability.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, and accounting) supplemented with progressively responsible experience in the trading of commodities. 5-7 years trading experience desired. A master’s degree is considered to be an asset. Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast paced work environment. Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the domestic & international trade. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers. Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database and word processing software applications within a windows based operating environment
