Job Description

Are you looking to lead a team of maintenance personnel, providing mentorship and performance feedback?

Grace is hiring an on-site Maintenance Manager for our 71st Street Chicago, IL site who will report to the Plant Manager. This position will be responsible for the plant’s maintenance department and reliability performance. Reporting to the role are the site’s maintenance supervisor and team and reliability engineer. This is a site leadership position that plays a critical role in leading and driving business and operational objectives to include Environmental Health and Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost Effectiveness.

Grace’s site at 4099 West 71st street employs 100 people and manufactures catalysts used in petroleum refining and specialty petrochemical industries for removing sulfur, nitrogen, and other impurities from crude oil streams. Responsibilities

  • Directs maintenance, MRO, purchasing, and reliability efforts in a manufacturing environment through direct reports.

  • Supports production operations ensuring timely and efficient maintenance of all operations equipment and assets.

  • Plans and implements operational and mechanical improvements.

  • Contributes to the planning and evaluation of production changes.

  • Provides strategic direction for the installation and modification of equipment.

  • Monitors and enforces all OSHA and Company safety regulations and policies.

  • Provides leadership to the safety program for the Maintenance Department.

  • Collaborates with production staff and upper management to resolve maintenance and reliability matters.

  • Interfaces with all Departmental Managers and Supervisors to ensure that plant equipment is maintained and kept in functional and safe order.

  • Reviews operations processes and procedures and creates opportunities for improvement in areas of productivity, cost reduction, process improvements, etc.

  • Involved in organizing, planning, and goal setting for preventative maintenance programs.

  • Oversees compliance in maintaining region's maintenance parts and supplies inventories.

  • Instructs lead personnel in goal achievement and staff productivity.

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials

  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.

  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance, or a related technical discipline.

  • 5 years experience leading and directing maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead people and obtain results through others.

  • Ability to lead, guide, train and grow a maintenance team in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Thorough technical understanding of production equipment, facility equipment and utilities.

  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems or similar software experience.
