This role joins the Exams, Audits & Monitoring team and will focus on leading the development of an enhanced monitoring program for US Personal & Business Banking as well as assisting the team in leading other risk projects and exam/audit activity as needed.

The role includes the assessment and continued enhancement of first line monitoring activities in support of various risk focus areas, including operational risk and compliance risk. This role builds upon risk simplification work to leverage enhanced end to end risk assessments to drive appropriate control activities, including evaluating ongoing monitoring of those controls and the interplay with testing activities. The role will lead the evaluation of current monitoring activities throughout US P&BB to ensure they are embedded in the day to day management of the businesses and leveraging business as usual management reporting and control activities. This role will help ensure there is a direct correlation between risk assessment activities and how it drives monitoring activities, as well as ensuring there is no or minimal duplication with first and second line activities. The role will also support the manager who ensures testing is optimized and aligned with teams that perform control testing and quality testing on behalf of US P&BB. This role will partner closely with management, key staff, and risk professionals in retail lending, indirect lending, retail payments, deposits and business banking.

The individual will lead the development of a strategy to assess current monitoring activities, determine the intersection with testing, and propose a more efficient and effective risk-based approach to monitoring. This is a dynamic function that will require flexibility, building strong partnerships, designing and developing management reporting, and being a driver of change.

The individual will also get involved in other first line risk activities and projects, such as product and service delivery, assisting/leading exams/audits, and other critical risk projects.

Specific duties include:

  • Developing and executing a program to evaluate current monitoring activities, the intersection with testing activities, partnering with risk and business teams, and driving toward a more efficient and effective monitoring program.

  • Evaluating the most cost-effective options for conducting monitoring activities.

  • Assisting in evaluating the product and service delivery model to support overall risk management and risk monitoring.

  • Developing and maintaining management reporting.

  • Assisting the exam and audit team in leading exams/audits or individual requests as needed.

  • Working with the sales practices and employee transaction monitoring team to understand their monitoring in relation to the overall monitoring program.

  • Other risk and compliance projects as needed.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree and applicable certifications beneficial

  • 3-5 years in risk, compliance, or operational risk preferred.

  • Prior consulting experience a plus

  • Excellent people, communication and collaboration skills

  • Project management skills beneficial

  • Excellent organizational skills to handle many competing priorities simultaneously

  • Staying current on developing regulatory requirements impacting the monitoring programs

  • Expertise in MS Office, including, excel and power point

  • Excellent analytical skills required

This position will require the ability to work extended hours as required to meet deadlines and accommodate some business travel as necessary.
