The Vice President, WC Ancillary provides executive leadership, strategic vision and business management to drive overall solution outcomes in the Ancillary vertical in the Workers’ Comp and No Fault Auto Division (revenue, client satisfaction, market expansion). This role serves as a key leader in the OptumRx Worker’s Compensation Senior Team that links strategic planning and growth objectives with day-to-day operational execution and service of the division.

Candidates located in Columbus, OH, Tampa, Florida or telecommute* will be considered.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working with the executive leaders, the Vice President will identify and execute strategic initiatives designed to promote profitable growth of the Ancillary business

  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance and results of diverse or broad functions through multiple layers of management

  • Manages $150MM P&L / budget

  • As required, responsible for assigned executive account management relationship ownership

  • Attend client and key vendor stewardship meetings as needed

  • Administers the appropriate cost and service measurements (metrics, measures, controls) to ensure the achievement of all key performance objectives that impact profitability and position in the marketplace

  • Develops and emulates a climate of superior customer service for all key stakeholders

  • Responsible for consumer / customer and provider satisfaction, administrative cost, and quality management; establish and drive to superior goals and metrics

  • Manages daily operations of multiple levels of staff and multiple functions / departments across one or more business organizations

  • May include day to day site operations, management leadership internal and external to organization, accountable for financial and non-financial results (budgets and actuals), as well as project management, implementation, and staff management

  • Directs and drives the short and longer-term planning based on objectives, initiatives, and resources of the assigned Worker’s Compensation teams, and drives prioritization to meet strategic and financial goals

  • Collaborates with other Worker’s Compensation senior leaders and leaders across the larger business on new products and services to support market leading delivery system performance

  • Communicates, supports and reinforces OptumRx’s mission, vision and values

  • Ensures all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws governing federal, state and / or business operations

  • Formulating and implementing business strategies and operational processes related to the execution of the Worker’s Compensation businesses

  • Manage collaboration and delivery outcomes with external payer organization as required

  • Reports directly to the CEO of the Worker’s Compensation division

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business and / or a health-related field

  • 10+ years of experience leading and managing a health care delivery system business; including one or more in areas of operations, technology, clinical services and/or consulting

  • 10+ years of experience leading a multiple function diverse staff of 250+ within group health care or worker’s compensation

  • 2+ years of Operational Readiness experience

  • Demonstrated experience with executive line management decision-making and P&L responsibility

  • Accountability for managing a diverse group of senior level individuals, while driving common goals and objectives

  • Strong EQ expertise with the ability to facilitate cross functional team through major process and business changes

  • Leading teams within technology, clinicians, consultants and / or other health care service talent

  • Solid organization, management, administrative and human relations skills and a style which exhibits maturity, leadership, collaboration and teamwork

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and shared services environment, especially as it relates to functions such as claims, customer services, human capital, information technology, marketing and communications

  • Problem-Solver with ability to dig in and “roll up sleeves” attitude

  • Demonstrated success / experience working in a highly matrixed organization

  • Experience should include in-depth, hands-on exposure in dealing with multiple constituents and customers, including negotiations of contracts, and execution of local growth strategies

  • Proven ability to drive, lead and communicate change effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate change effectively at multiple levels of large, complex organizations as well as the local market level

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time if based outside of the Columbus, OH or Tampa, FL market

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Marketing, Business, Health or Economics

  • Six-Sigma Certified

  • Payer or large provider operations management experience

  • Based in Columbus, OH or Tampa, FL
