Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage levels of raw materials and supplies in order to support production demands and avoid expiration.

  • Ensure production schedule is being followed.

  • Demonstrate an ability to interface with data processor for data collection.

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and/or in teams.

  • Work with experienced operator to clean, prepare, start up and shutdown Polymer production equipment in accordance with applicable process specifications.

  • Work with experienced operator to understand processes and be able to effectively troubleshoot equipment and/or processes.

  • Maintain clean working environment.

  • Adhere to good documentation practices.

  • Ability to monitor process parameters using instrumentation to ensure proper functioning, making process adjustments as required, demonstrating a working knowledge of the process interface.

  • Ability to accurately prepare and review Device History Records (electronic or hard copy).

  • Must be able to work independently to clean, prepare, start up and shutdown Polymer production equipment in accordance with applicable process specifications.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully change and archive chart recorder media as appropriate.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully complete Work Orders in accordance with applicable specifications.

  • Demonstrates an understanding and ability to monitor the process and environmental data streams

  • Understand processes and be able to effectively troubleshoot equipment and/or process.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully produce Dodecanol & Glycolic initiated Vicryl Polymer.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully produce Coating Copolymer.

  • Understand how power and equipment failures can impact production.

  • Monitor inventory levels of specified chemicals and arrange for replenishing as appropriate.

  • Demonstrate ability to produce Stannous Octoate catalyst.

  • Must be able to perform Melt Index and viscosity testing for product disposition according to applicable process specifications.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully produce Monocryl Polymer.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully produce PDS Polymer.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully produce PDS Regrind Polymer.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully produce Panacryl Polymer.

  • Effectively communicate how power and equipment failure impact production.

  • Demonstrate understanding of Key Process Variable and impact to Quality and Yield.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute protocol activities on the Shop Floor.

  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and resolve complex equipment and process issues.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully produce PDO Monomer.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully operate the Ethyl Acetate Recovery System.

  • Be able to identify and execute recovery techniques in the event of power and equipment failure.

  • Demonstrate ability to successfully can Coating Copolymer in accordance with applicable process specifications.

  • Prepare various products for shipment. This includes packaging, document generation, and notification of appropriate personnel.

  • Demonstrated ability to direct protocol activities on the Shop Floor.

  • Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions to address quality and yield issues.

  • Ability to recognize and offer suggestions for resolution of systemic issues.

  • Ability to plan production logistics (raw materials and equipment scheduling) to optimize efficiency.

  • Ability to provide occasional direction to lower-level Polymer operators.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/facilitator.

  • Follow current compliance regulations and standards.

  • Comply with all federal regulated programs.

  • Support Plant Diversity Process.

  • Ensure safe working conditions and practices in the department.

  • Submit Work Orders as needed to maintain safe and reliable working conditions and equipment.

  • Communicate process and/or equipment problems to supervisor/facilitator in a timely manner.

  • Work with appropriate personnel to resolve process deviations in a timely manner.

  • Contribute to positive and effective communication from shift to shift and participate in shift changeover meetings

  • Understand customer requirements.

  • Assist in process improvement activities.

  • Follow written specifications to manufacture product.

  • Use associated test equipment.

  • Adhere to FDA quality and worldwide quality systems requirements.

  • Demonstrate ability to consistently meet required work performance targets.

  • Demonstrate teamwork in identifying, evaluating, and resolving problems within the department.

  • Support Maintenance Excellence including 6-S and Operator Asset Care.

  • Support LEAN and Six Sigma initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Experiences and Qualifications:

  • High School graduate, experience, or training.

  • Have a minimum of one (1) year on-the-job experience as an Operator Level 1. Must have successfully completed the Operator Level 1 review, with confirmation of their ability to perform 100% of all tasks, skills, competencies, and responsibilities of a Level 1 Operator. This includes attainment of minimum performance standards of a Level 1 Operator.

  • Perform duties in a timely manner with little or no direction.

  • Demonstrate the ability to set up equipment to specifications.

  • Provide directions and training to other lower-level BC operators.

  • Ability to perform difficult work when only general to limited instructions are available.

  • Measure of actual productivity vs. the optimum ability of the machine. Considering machine capacity, rejects, downtime, and production rates

  • Targeting any one of these three key areas for improvement, Availability, Performance or Quality

  • Follow all aspects of 6S

  • Continued waste reduction improvements for BC

  • Attend required Safety & Environmental Training

  • Satisfactory completion of Compliance Wire assignments.

  • Read, interrupt and follow work instructions and training materials.

  • Assess and input data into shop floor systems.

  • Accurate record keeping via computer management systems by in putting and retrieving data for production and maintenance.

  • Charting, and interpreting SPC information and operational data.

  • Good interpersonal communication skills.

  • Has a positive attitude and is flexible to changes in work assignment

  • Ability to work overtime as required.

Material Handling:

  • Pick up full carts/pallets from Non-CFC and transports product to the BC area. Requires continuous handling of both empty and full magazines.

  • Transfer of empty carts to foil area.
