Senior Designer, Accessories, Global Apparel

As Senior Designer of Accessories, you will be instrumental in incorporating our culture into our accessories. You will use your imagination and devise products that allows our audience to express their individuality and authenticity, which are Vans’ core mentalities. If you do your research effectively, you will be able to discover exactly what our target audience relates to and be able to produce designs that are influenced by current trends production while staying true to Vans’ brand and creative vision. You will be responsible for all areas of design for Accessories from initial concepts through pre-production. The work you are able to accomplish in your role will impact Vans’ culture and the vision it has for the company’s future.

How You Will Make a Difference

What you will do:

  • Establish and maintains collaborative relationship with cross-functional partners in merchandise and development to ensure successful product creation.

  • Identify problems and develop solutions or innovative approaches to the design and development of accessories.

  • Impact the design process at Vans by communicating shared process and product knowledge with cross-functional partners throughout apparel categories.

How you will do it:

  • Partner with technical design team to ensure accuracy for drawings, materials, seam construction and ideal fit.

  • Research market conditions to identify key product trends to prepare concept for future innovative designs.

What success looks like:

  • Showcase your state of the art design skills to design authentic, original, and innovative designs and exceed our consumers expectations.

  • You will impact the consumer experience through new and original product that meets their expectations and push the boundaries of past lines.

Skills for Success

Years of Related Professional Experience: 5+ years

Educational Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in design, art or related field; fashion design, product design, industrial design, accessory and footwear design, or textile design; or a combination of education, experience, and training.

What we expect you already know:

  • Ability to translate consumer knowledge/insights to narratives and product executions.

  • Ability to create concepts and explore new ideas.

  • Proficient in computer design programs (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, Streamline).

  • Strong Microsoft Office experience.

  • Ability to present new ideas or seasonal concepts to small and large groups.

  • Experience building 3D samples and creating mockup samples by hand.

  • Ability to participate in multiple projects with competing resources and deadlines.

  • Passion for Design and experimentation.

  • Highly organized and self-sufficient

Pay Range:

$93,312.00 USD - $139,968.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential:

This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
