Job Duties: The Sr. Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing a new generation of advanced signal processing algorithms used in Abiomed’s family of Impella heart pumps. Responsibilities include: Own R&D programs from idea conception through product commercialization and monitoring. Lead cross-functional teams through a stage-gate development progress to mitigate program risk. Identify, refine, and prioritize unmet clinical needs in the cardiac cath lab and cardiac ICU care settings. Dig deep into technical problems to understand disease state fundamentals and set program requirements. Prioritize technical pathways and oversee their execution with predefined milestones and transparent timelines. Fluidly interface across medical domains, including hardware/software/algorithm engineering, product management, clinical operations, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance. Manage external partnerships with academic and industry collaborators to continuously feed innovation funnel. Design robust yet lightweight algorithms to process physiological signals in real-time.

Qualifications

Requirements: Employer will accept a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field and at least four (4) years of work experience in any occupation performing R&D within the medical device industry.

Up to 10% domestic travel required per year.
