This is a full-time, salary Exempt Position
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for coordinating the effective operation of Warehouse and Production functions within the Texturized Vegetable Protein (TVP) department. This includes the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of employees in these areas; managing vacation time scheduling, monitoring performance, and ensuring colleague capabilities meet the needs of the operation. This position has a key role in ensuring all safety and quality procedures are followed in all areas of the plant. The Superintendent is responsible for developing a team capable of issue resolution and problem solving, working closely with the Plant Superintendent, Plant Manager, Department Supervisors, and Lead Personnel at the facility.
Essential Job Functions:
Facility Direction & Coordination of Daily Operations
Responsible for overseeing the operation of the TVP facility, ensuring compliance with established quality, housekeeping, safety, and environmental guidelines set by the company.
Conducts KPI review and response meetings with incoming and outgoing staff. These meetings cover essential topics such as safety toolbox discussions, quality toolbox updates, near-miss incidents, EMP (Environmental Monitoring Program) results, and daily plans.
Coordinates daily operations and forecasting of operations with supply chain and commercial teams.
Assigns tasks to shift personnel based on their experience, training, and abilities, optimizing their contributions to overall facility performance.
Manages the department deployment plan for continuous improvement with a focus on aligned plant KPIs such as increased safety, increased FPP and reduced COPQ, increased yield, reduction in unscheduled downtime, and increased OEE.
Auditing & Training
Regularly assess operator standard work to ensure compliance. If necessary, provide coaching and address any disciplinary matters.
Supply employees with well-maintained resources necessary for safe job execution. Additionally, deliver essential training on proper equipment operation and personal protective gear usage.
Identify training gaps and collaborate with the production coordinators to develop a comprehensive training plan. Implement Job Qualification Standards (JQS) and standard operating procedures.
Work closely with employees to enhance their job proficiency, fostering a high level of competence.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback and growth of team members (Salary and hourly).
Enforce discipline within the department. Discuss disciplinary actions with the plant Human Resource Manager, Production Coordinators, and Department Supervisors as needed
Safety Compliance & Reporting
Ensures the safety of all personnel through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
Makes recommendations for improvements to company safety and environmental programs, quality and good manufacturing practices and production and material handling procedures.
Recognizes environmental, safety, and GMP hazards and identifies, discusses, and contains them to keep from affecting employee safety, product quality, and environmental purity.
Encourages employees to work safely with environmental awareness and good manufacturing practices in mind. Does so by leading-by-example
Listens to and responds to employee suggestions and concerns about safety, health, environment, product quality and housekeeping.
Analyzes safety incidents by preparing and completing Incident Investigations by end of shift. Escalate incidents to Plant Safety Manager and Department Superintendent as required.
Conducts GMP, safety, health and environmental inspections.
Morale Maintenance & Improvement
Addresses employee concerns and maintains good communications and morale on shift and within department.
Provides positive reinforcement and recognition when employees are observed producing good results and safe performance.
Assists the maintenance planning and scheduling process.
Production Duties
May perform production duties temporarily in the event of an emergency or employee absence.
May perform reasonably similar or related duties as required.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or adequate work experience is required
A minimum of 6 years of operations supervisory experience/ and or department management is required.
Experience in food production or a related industry is preferred including knowledge of GMP, SQF, and sanitary design.
Extrusion experience is highly desirable.
Demonstrated leadership and strong problem-solving skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to present material with energy and enthusiasm to motivate and influence people
Computer skills in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
History of working safely and a reputation for promoting and getting involved in safety improvement efforts
Concern for Quality and support of food safety plans

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$92,800.00 - $173,600.00
Salaried Incentive Plan:
The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus and a long-term incentive plan
