Elevator Supervisor – Decatur, IL.
This is an exempt level position.
The ADM East Plant facility in Decatur, IL is seeking a second and swing shift Elevator Supervisor to lead Elevator operations.
This position has overall responsibility for the Elevator operations including grain conveying operations, railroading and truck dumping operations. You will investigate the means by which operating procedures can be improved, and initiates improvements in the efficiency of the department operations. As a member of management, you will lead by example to set model safety expectations by following and implementing all safety practices. This includes looking for, reporting, and correcting safety hazards and poor practices during daily rounds of your departments. The Supervisor will understand and be involved in all safety programs including but not limited to Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out, Rail Operations Safety, Grain Handling, Entry into Grain Structures, Hot Work, Job Safety Analysis and Job Cycle Checks. The Supervisor ensures quality is maintained at an appropriate and acceptable level. Researches & makes recommendations regarding process improvements or modification that might improve design, quality, reliability, safety, and reduce manufacturing expense, Preform GMP and safety audits, maintain the plants rail tracks and by product loading systems.
This role will also provide leadership and mentoring for colleague development. This may include training, technical support, mentoring and periodic performance feedback. Experience leading teams is required, will have responsibility for leading crews of contractor employees.
The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, meeting deadlines, providing calculated information, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed. Prompt attendance is a requirement.
Grain handling, packaging, and/or warehouse experience preferred.
Proven participation and leadership in plant safety programs and process hazard analysis.
Ability to plan, organize, and lead personnel, schedules, and other resources.
Excellent interpersonal skills – both detailed oral and written are needed to be effective in this position.
Strong leadership, management, and social skills are necessary to effectively interact with multiple employees, manage personnel, and other partners. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict; motivating, instructing, and training personnel in a fair, honest, and direct way.
Ability to utilize independent discernment to tackle problems, have excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks, and strive for continuous improvement.
General knowledge of software systems such as Maximo and Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Access, Word, and SharePoint).
