The Endpoint Systems Architect is the principle technologist representing the Endpoint Services function across the enterprise. The Endpoint Systems Architect is a future-thinking technical expert in end user technologies and has wide-ranging experience across other IT disciplines. The Architect drives secure technology modernization that enables the workforce. The Architect provides technical leadership under the direction of the team strategic and operational leader.

Job consists of unique and multi-dimensional work situations with regular variations from the norm. Job involves a high degree of complexity. Duties are performed independently with minimal supervision and work is verified sometimes by results. Decisions are made within established departmental guidelines, but also by using judgment for the best reasonable outcome. Position has high visibility to Senior Leadership and Executives through direct interaction and reporting. Errors in judgment or work performance could result in insufficient operation for the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the long-term endpoint technical roadmap that aligns with business strategy and the organization's technology vision; and enables clinical, office-based and remote staff

  • Engage with business leaders and IT to examine and interpret operational requirements in order to develop data-driven technology proposals and business cases that align with the enterprise's technological vision. Effectively employ expertise and communication skills to gain stakeholder support and approval of proposed solutions

  • Lead the exploration, design, planning and implementation of integrated endpoint solutions that enhance the user experience, eliminate technical debt and strengthen security

  • Employ a proactive approach utilizing KPI's to develop solutions and processes that continually improve the quality of endpoint services, enable automation & orchestration, and left-shift's support functions into teams closest to the end users

  • Guide endpoint standards and lifecycles by partnering with business leaders, IT; Procurement, Asset and Security teams; and OEM's

  • Provide thought leadership by participating in the enterprise architectural review board

  • Build and maintain strong cooperative relationships across the enterprise, cross-discipline IT teams and enterprise Security

  • Maintain technical expertise in modern endpoint technologies

  • Provide tier 3 SME-level operational guidance and support for service requests, system events and high impact issues, along with maintaining appropriate contact with stakeholders

  • Support knowledge management by creating, maintaining and improving documentation such as knowledge articles, Wikis, and other artifacts

  • Mentor, coach and collaborate with other Endpoint Services team members

  • Perform other relevant job duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of technical training & industry experience

  • 8+ years of large enterprise cross-discipline IT experience with an increasing progression of responsibilities that includes work in systems design and technology selection

  • 5+ years of experience in an expert-level role supporting and implementing endpoint-related technology solutions

  • 3+ years of proven success leading the strategic development of architectural strategies and roadmaps for solutions that solve business problems, are scalable and sustainable, are secure, and meet internal long-term goals and KPI's of IT and the business

  • Proven experience successfully building and acquiring support for business cases, contributing to request for proposals; and designing, planning and leading implementations of enterprise technology solutions

  • Experience with incorporating ITSM & ITIL practices into mature processes

  • Expertise in core Windows 10 Enterprise functions including Windows as a service and other modern desktop technologies. Strong proficiency with other Microsoft 365 E5 technologies

  • Expert-level skills with endpoint management technologies and operating system deployment utilizing Microsoft's Endpoint Configuration Manager, Intune, Cloud Management Gateway and Windows Autopilot

  • Strong understanding of endpoint security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques

  • General understanding of compliance standards such as HIPPA, SOX and PCI DSS and experience incorporating these standards into technical solutions and processes

  • Ability to create professional documentation such as architectural diagrams, knowledge articles, project plans and other artifacts

  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location, however, may be required to work from home temporarily due to space limitations

  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL Foundation certification

  • Relevant industry certifications including MCSE & Microsoft 365 preferred. Endpoint security certifications

  • Experience with Microsoft security technologies such as Windows Defender, EDR and Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS)

  • Experience implementing and integrating Tanium solutions

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based technologies such as Windows Virtual Desktop

  • Experience deploying virtualization and related technologies such as: Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Microsoft Application Virtualization and Remote Desktop Services

  • Demonstrable ability to effectively communicate with and influence decision makers of all levels, including both technology and business leaders

  • Success in building and fostering relationships, coaching and mentoring other team members

  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

Physical Requirement and Work Environment:

  • Job requires hours that may exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during times of peak activity

  • Evening meetings and/or weekend work sometimes required to ensure timely project completion

  • Moderate to high job pressure exists in the balancing of several projects with conflicting and sometimes changing deadlines

  • Physical capability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds

  • Travel up to 10%
