Manager, Indirect Procurement (Americas)

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide procurement expertise to source indirect (non-product) goods and services in the areas of Retail Operations and Direct to Consumer.  The person in this role creates and maintains value through supply base optimization and leverage, competitive sourcing, skilled negotiation, internal stakeholder support, and effective controls and processes, thereby achieving maximum total value for the company.

This position will be responsible for sourcing activities in the retail store operations, e-commerce and direct-to-consumer categories for our Commercial organization in the Americas region with a total annual spend greater than $200M. This role interfaces with key leaders (often Vice Presidents and Directors) in retail operations, e-Commerce, customer service, and construction. Person will interface and help manage the relationships with dozens of key suppliers essential to the business.

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • Plan, manage, collaborate and lead multiple category sourcing projects.

  • Evaluate opportunities by category and prioritize the activities of yourself and team to focus on the most significant work.

  • Ensure projected savings opportunities and value is delivered based on the best supplier selection being made.

  • Work across brands, functions and regions to provide strategic direction to stakeholders.

  • Lead multifunctional teams to execute sourcing processes.

  • Execute and align activities such that they follow the recognized procurement best practices to achieve greatest total value.

  • Lead by example and be a teacher to others of best practices.

  • Compile, analyze and present data on sourcing interventions and spend under management.

  • Present data in a manner from which accurate conclusions and appropriate decisions concerning the category and business strategy can be made.

  • Track and report value delivered across categories of responsibility.

  • Analyze, review and finalize sourcing decisions based on process outcomes and negotiate agreements to ensure suppliers meet all of VF’s requirements as determined by subject matter experts and stakeholders.

  • Serve as liaison between the legal department and supplier to speed the process, protect the best interest of VF contractually and ensure successful and timely contract implementations.

  • Perform periodic supplier performance reviews to communicate actual and perceived performance issues with suppliers.

  • Develop plans to improve performance and/or hold supplier accountable to meeting commitments.

  • Continuously develop procurement skills and knowledge of the supply base through research, due diligence, training, benchmarking and other means.

  • Assist direct reports and others in the department to do the same. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills for Success:

Years of Related Professional Experience: Generally, 5+ years of professional experience in procurement or sourcing with 2+ years of management experience.

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Supply Chain or related field preferred and/or equivalent work experience

  • Effective communicator, both written and oral, who is able to influence and advise at all levels and across functions of the VF organization

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Works effectively with autonomy and in team settings

  • Results-oriented with effective time management, project management, planning and organizational skills

  • Strong analytical skills that enable fact-based decision making (even when data is limited), able to use analytical skills to influence the decisions of others

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Travel by air and overnight, as required 20% amount of time.

Hiring Range :

$94,176.00 USD - $117,720.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
