Elevator Superintendent – Des Moines, IA
This is a salaried exempt level role.
Position Summary:
The Elevator Superintendent is responsible for all areas of elevator operations, ensuring the grain quality is maintained at appropriate and acceptable levels, investigating the means by which elevator operating procedures can be improved, and initiating actions to improve elevator operations, departmental processes and procedures. As a member of the management team, the Elevator Superintendent is a role model and must set an example for safety in the workplace by following and enforcing all safety practices, conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions to ensure any safety hazards identified are resolved in a timely and efficient manner. This position requires a strong sense of ownership, accountability and a continuous improvement mindset.
Job Duties:
Provide leadership, mentoring, training, technical support to colleagues.
Develop, implement, lead and manage the full scope of work of projects in elevator operations to ensure projects are completed on-time and within budget.
Research and make recommendations regarding process improvements, modifications to equipment design, to improve productivity, quality, reliability, safety, efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
Maintain effective communications between the Commercial and Plant teams.
Perform housekeeping, safety and environmental audits to ensure compliance.
Maintain the rail tracks and rail unloading operations for the site.
Fill in to support other areas/departments as needed.
Experience and Skills:
A Bachelor’s degree plus 5 or more years of grain handling experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience leading teams is required.
Demonstrated participation and leadership for plant safety programs and process hazard analyses.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage personnel, schedules, and other resources.
Excellent communication skills – both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.
Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interact with multiple employees, management personnel, and other stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills required for this role include managing and resolving conflict; motivating, instructing, and training personnel in a fair, honest, and direct manner.
Must be capable of utilizing independent judgment to resolve problems, and possess excellent organizational skills to effectively manage multiple ongoing tasks.
A general knowledge and experience using software systems including Maximo and Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Access, Word, and SharePoint).
Physical Requirements :
Must be able climb stairs, bend, kneel, walk, stand and sit frequently and for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work in confined spaces and from heights.
Must be available to work extended hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
Prompt and consistent attendance is required.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$72,900.00 - $131,800.00
Salaried Incentive Plan:
