Pratt & Whitney is looking for a motivated, ambitious individual to join our Hot Section Durability organization. Durability engineers are responsible for executing designs and thermal analyses of cooled turbine airfoils and BOAS. The candidate will be expected to perform heat transfer, fluid flow, CFD and structural analyses. Additional responsibilities include mission life and validation analyses. Interface with numerous internal and external customers and suppliers, including manufacturing, casting and core suppliers, overhaul and repair facilities and airlines. Frequent opportunities to document and present technical material to design teams, senior leadership and executives to drive informed decisions will be required.

Qualification:

• 6+ years of experience related to fluids and/or heat transfer analyses or equivalent • Experience in Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, Material Science, Statistics, Lifing and Weibull Analysis. • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as, investment casting, laser and EDM hole drilling, airflow, and metallic and ceramic coating processes. • Knowledge of airfoil lifing failure modes and mission life modeling for typical airfoil limiting modes such as oxidation, creep, corrosion and TMF • Strong writing, presentation and interpersonal skills are required.

Education:

Required Qualifications Bachelors in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Preferred Qualifications Masters Degree or PhD preferred in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
