LPSD has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer 2 position within the Bevel Gear Value Stream Tech Services team located in East Peoria, Illinois. This position will be responsible for development of control plans, leading PPAP process, quality initiatives, tracking key OEE metrics, leading MRB and supporting the overall health of production process capability. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting programs across drivetrain components to achieve PQVC targets. Incumbent will interface directly with multiple teams including Engineering, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, Product Change Control and Safety . The Manufacturing Engineer role is a resource within the Technical Services Team that primarily supports the Bevel Gear Value Stream.
Ability to read, interpret and understand inspection reports on gears
Create and publish Control Plans (CPs) and PFMEA documentation
Provide feedback on design changes that impact the manufacturability of test parts and production
Create project plans and timelines for test lots and PPAPs
Conduct regular PPAP updates and gate reviews to communicate and coordinate activities
Read / Interpret prints and gauge readings
Contribute to Gauge R&R testing in selection of best gauges and gauging methods
Oversee the Deviation process and investigate areas of scrap
Ensure common methods are used and carried forward into future inspection processes
Work with vendors as needed to ensure quality and PPAP compliance for WDO processes
Aid in selection of appropriate gauges and measurement process to determine conforming and nonconforming conditions
Interface closely with other teams such as Manufacturing, Electric drive, Product Design.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or 3+ years of functional experience
Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts (Lean Manufacturing, 6-Sigma, Quality Management Systems, etc.)
Experience with developing and validating specifications for PPAP and Control Plans
Ability to demonstrate initiative and work with diverse groups to reach consensus
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as project management efficiency
Top Candidates will also have
Experience Leading Cost reduction projects with proven results
Exceptional Working knowledge of PPAP and APQP processes to drive results
Bevel Gear Production or Manufacturing Engineering Experience
Excellent Team Leadership, Change Management, and ability to train others
Knowledge of drivetrain products and functionality
